Neighbourhood

Praia da Vieira is a relaxed Portuguese seaside town with a long sandy beach, beach cafés, seafood restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries and playgrounds, all within walking distance. During the summer, the town comes alive with a friendly atmosphere, while the rest of the year it’s peaceful and perfect for long beach walks. It’s also an excellent base for exploring Portugal’s Silver Coast, with Nazaré, São Pedro de Moel, Leiria, Batalha, Alcobaça and Óbidos all within an easy drive.

Nearest airport

Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) – approximately 150 km (1 hour 30 minutes) by car. Porto Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) – approximately 200 km (2 hours) by car.

Getting Around

Once you’re here, you can easily walk to the beach, cafés, restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries and children’s playgrounds. For day trips along the Silver Coast and to nearby historic towns, a car is the best option.

Clio

We are a family of four from Sitia, a beautiful seaside town on the island of Crete. I’m Clio, originally from Crete, and my husband João is from Lisbon, Portugal. We have two young children, aged 4 and 6, who are love nature as much as we do. We both work remotely at tech companies, and at the same time I am studying a new degree in interior design and Joao is writing. As a family, we enjoy exploring new places, spending time outdoors, camping and sharing stories. We speak several languages (Greek, Portuguese, English, Spanish), and we love meaningful travel experiences thatet us to connect with local culture and people. It’s our first time swapping homes but we have a lot of experience with Couchsurfing and workaway. We’re respectful guests with a lot of traveling experience who will treat your home with care, and we’re really excited to exchange with like-minded families who enjoy slow travel and living.
