General Overview
Our home is one of 19 original cabins part of a boys' sleepaway camp that have been bought by individual families and used as seasonal properties with a large waterfront on a lake without public access (in other words, very quiet lake with few boats).
Please note--you are definitely not alone in the woods here. Other cabins are nearby and you will encounter neighbors around the property, including the waterfront/dock, fields, and pickleball/tennis/basketball courts.
It's a great place for kids and water-lovers of all ages!
The Space
This is definitely a camp, not fancy but very family-friendly.
The top floor features a bedroom and full bath, kitchen well appointed with everything but a dishwasher, living room, dining room, wood stove, and huge screened in porch. The porch is where we eat most of our meals and enjoy spending time playing games, reading, or just sitting quietly enjoying the surrounding nature.
Guest Access
2 floors, and two of the bedrooms and full bathroom downstairs are accessed by going outside (the old camp store!). Our kids have always slept downstairs, while we sleep upstairs.
The cabin is located on large communal lot with many other cabins nearby, so expect that you will encounter and interact with neighbors throughout the time you're at camp. Once folks know you're staying at our cabin, they will be friendly but on first encounters their engagement with you may range from curious to a bit suspicious (on his first visit, they said to my now-husband, "you're a strange face!"). It's a quirk of the community, but please don't let this deter you from coming to experience the beauty of our property!
Notes
This is a screen- and wifi-free home--the way life should be! :)
While this is a bit unusual in this day and age, we have found it to be the absolute best way to get kids and adults OFF their screens, connecting with each other, and enjoying nature. We do have a TV and antenna stowed away in the upstairs bedroom closet for must-watch soccer matches! :)

Neighbourhood
This is a small homeowner community with a friends-and-family policy when it comes to rentals. This swap would be in that spirit. People will want to know who you are and will be happy to converse with you.
Noise carries exceptionally well in this peaceful environment, so if you are a "crank up the tunes and party" kind of crew, this would not be the place for you. Quiet hours are 9 p.m. to 8 a.m., and quite well respected by those in camp.
The camp itself has a large field for soccer, softball, kickball, etc. We also have clay tennis courts, and hard court with pickle ball and basketball nets.
The lake is the real draw--it's beautiful and clean, and we have two large docks where you can spend the day reading, watching your kids swim, swimming yourself. We also own two kayaks and a canoe should you want to get out on the water.
Getting to my home
We are about 2h45m from Boston and just over an hour from Portland. We are accessible from 1-95, and a car will be needed to access the property and enjoy everything wonderful around the area.

Getting Around
Guests will need a car to access nearby activities, but I generally just do a big grocery shop on the way in and then stay in camp all week. It's bliss!

Courtney
We are a family of six (one away at college in fall 2026) with a love for the mountains, lakes, and general adventuring. We enjoy skiing, swimming, live music, soccer, and walking in the woods.
Please note: As a busy family of six with multiple properties and kids on different school calendars and custody schedules, we have a lot of moving parts!, We try to keep our property calendars up to date. However, if you're not seeing something that aligns for your needs/schedule, please don't hesitate to reach out to see what we can make work!
Also, we are open to linking our properties to create a longer itinerary (for example, arriving in Boston, and then spending a few nights at our mountain home in Maine, a little over an hour drive to our cabin on a lake, and then we have a house on the mid-coast of Maine as well. Please reach out if this is of interest to you!
