General Overview

My home is a comfortable rural retreat in northern Brittany, quiet with very few neighbours but it's not too far to travel for local amenities, Quimper and the beaches of Finistère.

The Space

The house is set over 2 floors, on the ground floor you will find a large utility room with "office corner" which is ideal for remote working. The main part of the ground floor is made up of an open plan kitchen, dining, living space and there is a small separate snug, in which you'll find a day bed which can be used either as a single or double bed. On the first floor you will find 4 bedrooms, the master bedroom has standard double bed and small en suite shower room. Bedrooms 2 and 3 have small double beds and bedroom 4 has a standard sized double bed. The family bathroom contains a shower (no bathtub). The garden is a good size and "wild" and you will find a charcoal barbecue in the garden store.

Guest Access

There is a private drive and small garage on site, the house is set over two floors and there are internal steps between the utility space and kitchen, and the sitting room and snug.

Neighbourhood

The house is rural and you will need a car. There is a small convenience store in the village of Tregourez which is about 5 minutes away by car. Larger shops can be found in Chateauneuf-du-Faou (12 minutes by car) and Briec (14 minutes by car). Quimper is about 25 minutes away by car.

Getting to my home

Getting to Ty Cwtch by public transport is not an option, you will need a car. The nearest ferry port is Roscoff, about an hour and 15 minutes by car. St Malo ferry port is a drive of about 2 and a half hours. Local airports include Quimper (approx 40 minutes drive), Brest (approx 1 hour 10 minutes drive), Lorient (approx 1 hour drive), Rennes (approx 1 hour 45 minutes drive).

Hello! I’m an experienced home exchanger who genuinely enjoys the people‑to‑people side of swapping homes as much as the travel itself. I’m retired, a widow, and have three grown‑up children who are now happily independent, which gives me the time and flexibility to travel often. I’ve completed over 45 home exchanges so far and continue to find it a wonderfully rewarding way to travel thoughtfully, live like a local, and meet like‑minded people along the way. I love discovering new places, good food (both cooking and eating it!), and making the most of everyday life wherever I am. I’m also an avid tennis player, and always enjoy finding a local court when I’m away. I exchange my homes for a mix of short breaks and longer stays, and I particularly value exchanges where both sides feel relaxed, comfortable, and well communicated with. Trust, kindness, and a shared sense of responsibility really matter to me. My homes are comfortable, practical family homes. Set up for real life; somewhere you can unpack, settle in, and feel at home whether you’re staying for a long weekend or several weeks. Working especially well for families, with a sensible layout, and everything you need for everyday living. Children are very welcome, and I’m open to longer stays by arrangement, particularly outside peak periods. I’m not precious about my homes, but I do care about them, and I really appreciate guests who treat them with the same care and respect they would their own home. I’m fairly open‑minded about destinations and enjoy a variety of trips, from short breaks to longer exchanges. Above all, I’m looking for exchanges built on mutual trust, clear communication, and a shared enjoyment of the home‑exchange way of travelling. If you think we might be a good fit, I’d love to hear from you.
