General Overview

Classic Victorian terraced house and courtyard garden in the heart of Windsor Town Centre. Just several minutes walk from Windsor Castle with easy access to the Windsor Great Park. Our home is available for stays of up to 7 nights as it is our primary residence. It is an ideal base for the countryside via the M4 and London with train connections into both Paddington (40 mins) and Waterloo (58 minutes)

The Space

The house is over three floors. The ground floor has a sitting room with smart TV, leading into a large open plan kitchen and dining area which overlooks the garden. The main bedroom is on the first floor with a comfortable queen size bed and large built in wardrobe. The second bedroom has a small double bed and built in wardrobe. There is a study overlooking the garden with a desk for those who might want to work! The upstairs bathroom has a large sink with mirrored wall cabinet and shower over the bath. The toilet is in the bathroom. There is large basement bedroom and ensuite bathroom downstairs which we lovingly refer to as the "Downunder Suite!" There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer in the basement. The garden has two tables and chairs which are excellent for a lazy relax in the summer sun.

Guest Access

A key box is located on the inside of the front fence (code changed regularly and provided before arrival). The upstairs rooms and the basement are accessed by stairs and hence not suitable for guests with limited mobility or young children.

Notes

PARKING in Windsor is challenging and expensive for both residents and visitors alike. There is time limited parking for residents and visitor voucher holders in Albany Road. If you do wish to travel by car we can arrange for paid visitor permits which equate to just under £5 per 24 hour day which you can settle with cash or transfer when you arrive. We're so close to London by train and you can easily get to places like Oxford and Bath this way. If you plan to hire a car, you can do this locally from Slough or the airport. There's no reputable car hire company in Windsor. CLEANING Finding cleaners is also a challenge for us. So please be prepared to leave the house as you find it. We do not expect you to do laundry but ask that beds are stripped and towels left to dry in the laundry area. We will send you comprehensive guide to the house and to Windsor before you arrive.

Neighbourhood

We are in one of the most popular tourist towns in Britain and one of the most beautiful! Our house is just off the main street leading to Windsor Castle and you can easily walk to the iconic Long Walk and into the Great Park. Shopping, cafes and restaurants are just moments away. Eton School is just across the bridge and there are delightful riverside walks nearby. Just 15 minutes away, set across 35 acres of beautifully designed gardens and woodland, The Savill Garden is a peaceful retreat in the heart of Windsor Great Park. In the park, you can watch world class polo in the summer, or head to nearby Ascot for the races. We have several Michelin* and gastronomic restaurants nearby and plenty of great pubs! Historic Runnymede riverside meadows are just 15 minutes away, where King John sealed the Magna Carta in 1215. There is plenty to keep you occupied or just relax in the garden!

Getting to my home

There are two train stations in Windsor. Windsor Central connects to Paddington (with a change at Slough c40 minutes) on the Elizabeth Line or Great Western. Or take the longer direct Waterloo Line which terminates at Windsor and Eton Riverside Station (near the Eton Bridge). This connects to riverside towns such as Putney (think rowing), Richmond (think Ted Lasso & Twickenham (think Rugby) and to Clapham Junction to connect to other parts of the country. We will send you more information prior to arrival.

Nearest airport

Heathrow Airport Terminals are between 15 and 30 minutes by taxi. (c£35) There is a good bus service to and from Terminal 5 to Windsor. If arriving at other terminals, there's a free link to T5 to then join the buses.

Getting Around

Everything is within easy walking distance of the house. Trains and buses connect into London as described above. You can take the train to Oxford or Bath. There is an excellent bus service to nearby Ascot for the races, or even into London (it's long but you see a lot!) Or head out in the car to the historic tourist towns of Oxford or Bath or the beautiful Cotswolds. We will supply a comprehensive house and travel guide prior to your stay.
