Sutherland Place is located in the heart of Melbourne's Southbank Arts Precinct. 

Our light-filled low rise 2 bedroom apartment is located on the 1st floor and is accessed by an internal staircase. This secure complex has one secure undercover parking space and bike storage (own security chain needed) for 2 bikes.

The complex is nestled in an acre of beautiful established gardens with a gym, spa-pool, solar heated outdoor pool and a tennis court.   

We are just a few minutes walk from the National Gallery of Victoria, major galleries, theatres and concert halls.  The No 1 tram stops outside the door and provides access to Melbourne's excellent tram, bus and underground network.

Flinders and Southern Cross Railway stations are 20-25 minutes away and provide access to the Victorian countryside and major cities.

The Space

The apartment is light and airy, with an open plan lounge and dining area.  There's a 55 inch smart TV and 5G Wifi.  The covered balcony overlooks the beautiful gardens.

We love to cook and so the kitchen is well appointed with all you need to self cater (induction hob, oven, dishwasher, air fryer, microwave and, of course, a coffee machine.)   

The dining table seats 6 and can be expanded to accomodate more.  There is a desk for those who need to work!

There are two double bedrooms (1 x queen and 1 with 2 x king single beds) both with built in wardrobes and drawers.

The bathroom has a shower over the bath and a large mirrored vanity and separate toilet.   There is also a European style laundry with a sink, washing machine and dryer.

Guest Access

The building is only 3 storeys high and so has no elevators.  Our apartment is on the first floor.   There are 12 steps up to the entrance door and another 12 to the apartment.   

Our car park is just below the apartment via the external door leading to the garage making it easy to unload luggage or shopping.

A fob is required for access to the complex, apartment and the garage.

We are happy to offer stays of up to 7 nights in our apartment.

Enjoy the best of Melbourne’s arts and culture scene with amazing nearby attractions including Melbourne Recital Centre, National Gallery of Victoria, Arts Centre, Hamer Hall, Southbank Theatre, and Malthouse Theatre. You’re also so close to the Southbank Promenade, Crown Casino, local supermarkets, trams, the new Anzac Station and the Westgate Freeway.

We are not able to provide cleaners, so please only people who are prepared to leave it as you find it.  We don't expect you to launder sheets or towels, just to leave them in the laundry.

We're always happy to pay for cleaners in homes we stay in if this is a requirement.

Neighbourhood

The apartment is located in a tranquil area  just behind the Arts centre right next door to the ABC.  We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Laak Boorndap when we will be able to wander through the new stunning elevated gardens to St Kilda Road.

For food lovers,  you walk to the restaurant heaven that is South Melbourne in about 20 minutes.  The amazing markets are a magnet for seafood lovers.  Or take the No 1 tram in the other direction and end up in buzzy Lygon Street.

Wander across St. Kilda Road to the Shrine of Remembrance and the Botanic Gardens, then amble along the river to Federation Square.  Everything including the city centre lanes, cafés & restaurants is within easy walking distance of the apartment.

Getting to my home

From Melbourne airport take the SkyBus which takes between 20 and 40 minutes depending on traffic, to the Southern Cross Station, then hop on a tram or take an Uber.  The walk along the Southbank to the apartment is lovely if you don't have too much luggage.

The No 1 tram stops right outside the building, get off at the stop called Arts Precinct.

Nearest airport

The nearest airport is Melbourne Tullamarine, 23 kms, don't get confused and book via Avalon which is much further away!

Getting Around

For supermarket shopping, there's a large Woolworths just 6 minutes walk away or a small IGA. 

The South Melbourne market is a 20-minute walk or short tram ride. 

The No 1 tram feeds the extensive Melbourne tram and subway system. We are just a 15 minute walk from Flinders Street station where you can take metropolitan trains all over Melbourne.   For Country Victorian trains, head to Southern Cross Station.
