General Overview
The cabin is a cozy sanctuary in the heart of Port Renfrew. The cabin is tucked away within the "Wild Coast Cabins," a small, tranquil community of privately owned vacation homes. Located on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island, this is the perfect base for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you are coming to surf the winter swells or explore the local trail networks, our cabin offers a peaceful place to return to at the end of the day. While we live three hours away in Port Alberni, this cabin is our home-away-from-home, especially during the winter surf season.
Port Renfrew is the basecamp for coutless single or multi-day adventures. It is located at the south end of the world famous West Coast Trail (reservation required), and at rhe north end of the Juan de Fuca Trail. The Juan de Fuca Trail has numerous accessible trailheads for day use access to spectacular beaches. The area is renowned for being a "big tree capital" where you can experience some of the biggest old growth trees on record. Port Renfrew is the westernmost and most ocean exposed part of a "circle route" of Southern Vancouver Island. It is some of the southernmost Vancouver Island access to the unique coastal rainforest environment that produces dramatic landscapes popular with photographers. Famous beaches include Sombrio, Botanical, Mystic, and China Beaches, all access points along the multi-day Juan de Fuca hike through stunning Provincial park.
The Space
Our cabin is "small but perfectly formed," designed to maximize comfort and warmth. It is a single-level layout, offering easy accessibility with only one step required to access the front deck.
Inside, you’ll find:
The Living Area: Relax beside the wood stove after a day on the trails, or enjoy the high-speed WiFi and our selection of board games on slower, rainy-day moments.
Sleeping Arrangements: A cozy, comfortable queen bedroom and a living room sofa bed with a premium memory foam mattress for extra guests.
Kitchen & Bath: A fully stocked kitchen equipped with everything you need to prepare home-cooked meals, and a full bathtub perfect for soaking after an active day outdoors.
Guest Access
Rachael’s Retreat is fully set up as a self-contained vacation rental, so you will find all the essentials provided, including fresh bedding and towels.
Notes
A note on laundry: Please be aware that there is no laundry facility inside the cabin. We coordinate with a professional cleaning service at the end of each stay to ensure everything is prepared for our guests.
