General Overview

Situated on 10 acres right off the main highway and backed up to the national forest, our log cabin combines the best of convenience and tranquility. Only 5 miles from Purgatory Ski Resort, 2 miles from Haviland Lake State Park, and all just 25 miles from Durango, Colorado, USA. We've worked hard to make our log cabin the place our family will gather for years to come. We hope you feel the peace and relaxation we do.

The Space

Entering from the south, on the ground floor you will find two spacious bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, a twin over full bunkbed, and its own en suite bathroom. Or, you can go up the beautiful outdoor stairs to arrive at the main floor. On the main floor (second level), you'll find an open floor plan with a dining room, living room, and kitchen, along with a wall of windows and beautiful french doors leading to the picturesque north porch. Grill and enjoy your dinner around a gas fire pit or sip your coffee while watching the sunrise. Whichever you choose sitting on our porch you are in nature and basking in comfort. The main floor also has a full bathroom and laundry. Finally, take the beautiful log staircase up to the loft with a game area, master bedroom, and full bathroom. Our home comfortably sleeps 10, and we can accommodate 12 with prior arrangements.

Guest Access

The ground floor and the main (second level) floor aren't connected by stairs inside the home. You will have to use the stairs outside the home to get from the two bedrooms downstairs to the living room, kitchen, and dining room. You will need a four-wheel drive to get up our driveway from November through April.

Notes

Our home is in nature. We have bears in the area from June through December. No food or trash can be left outside. It must be put immediately in the bear-resistant dumpster. Additionally, we live in a beautiful mountainous area, but it is dry. You cannot have any wood fires outside and there is absolutely no smoking.

Neighbourhood

Our home is not in a neighbourhood. It's 20 miles (32km) north of the wonderful mountain town of Durango, Colorado, USA. Durango is known for its fully functional narrow-gauge railroad, which runs daily to the old mining town of Silverton, Colorado. The town is home to great food, fantastic art, and amazing outdoor activities. Our home sits north of town up the beautiful Animas River Valley and about 5 miles (8km) south of Purgatory Ski Resort.

Getting to my home

You'll need a hire car/truck. There aren't any convenient public transportation options to get to our home. In the winter, the roads are well plowed but do get icy.. You will need a 4WD, to get up our driveway from November to April.

Nearest airport

Your best bet is to fly into: Denver, Colorado, USA (about 7 hours drive away, but it's a beautiful drive); Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA (about 4 hours, starkly bold drive through painted desert); or more expensive but more convenient fly into Durango, which is about 35 miles (56km) south/southwest of our home.

Getting Around

Our home is 25 miles from Durango, Colorado. There is a small store and petrol station 3 miles (~5km) north of our home. There is a larger grocery store 15 miles south of our home. There are multiple restaurants at Glacier Club resort about 5 miles south of our home and at Purgatory Ski Resort 5 miles north of our home. Town (Durango) is 20 miles (32km) south of our home. It has several grocery stores, small shops, drug stores, etc. There is a hospital 30 miles south/southwest.
