General Overview
*PLEASE READ BEFORE MESSAGING*
As the house does not have heating, it is not open until May 2026, and we do not have any availability through the rest of the summer.
We are however now open to stays from 21st September - end of October 2026 until we close it for winter again at the beginning of November so get in touch if you are interested in this period!
The Space
We have had this special house in our family for 30 years. It is situated on the west side of the 11th century bastide village of Mansonville, and has a wide, commanding and spectacular view of the Arratz valley. La Hune means the ‘look-out’ or ‘crow’s nest’, as on the tall masts of ships.
We recommend a maximum of 14 people (3 double bedrooms, 1 double sofa bed and 6 single beds in the ‘dormitory’).
All the rooms in the house are extraordinarily spacious, and the space and land around the house is also vast - excellent for children to expend energy and/or various lawn games.
BEDROOMS
There are four large bedrooms on the first floor; one with six single beds, the other three with a double bed each, and one of those with a double sofa bed. Two of the bedrooms also have en-suite bathrooms with showers, and there are two other bathrooms (one upstairs, one downstairs) also with showers. There is one baby cot. Bath and shower towels are provided on beds on your arrival.
KITCHEN
The kitchen has a large table seating up to 10. There is one baby high chair. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and dinners at home - abundant cutlery, serving ware (plates, bowls, etc), saucepans and various cookware, and variety of glasses. There is a gas stove, a microwave and an electric oven. There is a double sink, a large fridge freezer and a dishwasher. There is both a coffee machine and a filter coffee machine. In the utility room, there is a washing machine, and a tumble dryer.
REST OF THE HOUSE
There is a library with hundreds of books and a large table that seats 8 people - perfect for larger board games. There is a games/music room with a sofa, large table with chairs and a small ping pong table as well as a CD player with hundreds of CDs, and a living room with two sofas and a table perfect for board games for smaller groups. The living room also has a large sideboard with a variety of adult and children's board games and some toys.
OUTSIDE
The house has a large garden, a covered terrace with a long wooden table that seats 12 people, and a 11m x 5m pool that has a shallow and deep end. The terrace also has a marble stone table to seat 4 (good for drinks while the sun is going down), and has sun loungers and parasols as well as various other seating and relaxing areas. A favourite evening activity is star gazing, and during the summer months, the clear nights reveal an amazing array of shooting stars, satellites and the full panoply of the Milky Way. Pool towels are provided.
Guest Access
The house is on two floors.
You will have access to the entire house, garden and land apart from a small locked room in which we store items needed for house upkeep.
Notes
The house and village are in a very rural location and as such guests should expect the various critters that come with such a location!

Neighbourhood
The village of Mansonville is very small and peaceful. It has a very small market on Monday mornings, a church, a small grocery shop (limited opening hours), and a restaurant with a bar. The grocery shop supplies fresh bread for the village every morning apart from Monday (when the market is on). The village is within a few hundred metres of the popular pilgrimage path of St James of Compostella, and is located in an extraordinarily productive and beautiful region of France, surrounded by incredible views, vineyards, orchards, walking trails, gastronomy and restaurants offering local delicacies, local culture and some of the best holiday weather in the whole country.
Getting to my home
The house is located in Mansonville in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the Occitanie region in southern France. You can get to the nearest village (Valence D'Agen) by train but after this a car is a must have.
Nearest airport
It's a 1 hour drive from Toulouse airport, 100 mins from Bordeaux airport, and 2 hours from Bergerac airport.
Getting Around
A car is a must have as the house is in a rural location with no public transport and other than a small village shop, the supermarket is in the closest town 10 mins drive away.

Jessie
We are Jessie and Jurrat, now based in Brighton after growing up in Switzerland and Texas respectively, meeting and living in Bangladesh, with a quick stint in London before buying our first home in Brighton. We love food and are avid home cooks, with Jessie running a monthly seasonal social supper club. We both enjoy sports (ultimate frisbee and basketball respectively) and enjoy the gym and running. We absolutely love to travel.
I (Jessie) also manage Airbnb bookings (and now PLU stays!) for our family holiday home in South West France where we have been going on holiday for almost 30 years!
