Come unwind at the perfect cabin for every season in Colorado's Rocky Mountains. Nestled among the trees with incredible views, this 3-bedroom, 2-bath cabin sits on 5 private acres located between picturesque St. Mary's Glacier and the beautiful mountain town of Idaho Springs. The location offers back door access to miles of hiking & ATV trails, backcountry skiing & biking, and more. Cozy up to a wood-burning fire as you gaze out over national forest.
The Space
A true mountain experience with an endless vista of colorful Aspens and sweeping views. This 3-bedroom cabin is complete with an open kitchen and living area with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. Walk out to a huge wrap-around deck to soak up the sun and enjoy the view. There are three bedrooms (2 queen beds, 2 bunked twin beds, and 1 king bed) and two bathrooms (one stone shower with rain head feature and one clawfoot tub with shower head), plus a sitting room, and lofted TV area. The basement is currently unfinished, but does have a washer/dryer, if needed. You'll find all the peace and joy you're looking for at this mountain escape.
***IMPORTANT NOTES: up to two dogs are allowed. No cats allowed.
From Nov-April: All guests MUST have All-Wheel/4-Wheel Drive AND Snow Tires or Chains on their vehicle to safely access the property. A high-clearance, 4wd vehicle is highly recommended year round!***
THINGS TO DO NEARBY: hiking, snowshoeing, rafting, fishing, mountain biking, world class skiing, ATVing, snowmobiling, tubing, ropes course, hot springs, disc golf, ziplining, and much more!
Bedroom 1: King Bed (this lofted bedroom has a door but is otherwise open to look over the living area - nobody can see you in bed, but it's technically not fully enclosed)
Bedroom 2: Queen Bed
Bedroom 3: Queen Bed + a set of bunked twin beds
Additional Sleeping: Pack 'n Play & changing table available (please bring your own pack and play sheets for the mattress)
OUTDOOR LIVING: Large deck with incredible views, short walk to a stream to relax in hammocks during warm months, national forest trail access right from the property, gas grill, outdoor seating
INDOOR LIVING: TV w/ Amazon Firestick (to cast pre-downloaded shows from your devices), DVD player + DVD collection, and HDMI cable, wood-burning fireplace, books & board games. The (almost, but quite finished) basement has an air hockey table and shuffleboard table! Please note, the only TV in the cabin is in the loft near the large, lofted (and open) bedroom so it's recommended that whoever is likely to stay up latest watching TV sleep in that nearby room.
KITCHEN: Fully equipped, coffee pot, Keurig, french press, coffee grinder, cooking basics, spices, condiments, dishware/flatware, toaster oven
GENERAL: electric heaters in each room, fans in each room, linens/towels, in-unit washer/dryer, keyless entry, hair dryer, laundry detergent, trash bags/paper towels
DRIVING: Due to gravel driveway and general road conditions at this elevation, 4WD/AWD is recommended year-round. From November through April, every car at the property *must* have both 4WD/AWD AND either snow tires or chains (all season tires are not the same as winter tires). Truly, this is for your safety. We can almost guarantee you WILL get stuck if you don't have BOTH AWD/4WD AND Snow Tires or chains. You can buy chains (using the specs for your tires), for about $100 online. Check Youtube for how to use them. If roads are open, no refunds will be issued. The weather can be unpredictable so please be prepared and be safe! We do provide snow removal for the entry road and driveway in the winter months and do our best to maintain it, but with unpredictable high winds throughout the year, snow drifts are common. We cannot guarantee the driveway and outdoor stairs will be completely cleared prior to your arrival. Please come prepared with hiking or snow shoes with good footing. We provide snow shovels and salt for guests to use for light snow or between snow plows. Many guests love and enjoy this experience and genuinely enjoy soaking up the remote winter wonderland, but if you are not the adventurous type or do not have experience in these elements, this may not be the rental for you.
PARKING: free parking in driveway, though the driveway is a little steep and can be difficult to turn around in so please note that as you park.
PETS: Up to two dogs are allowed per stay. Guests MUST pick up all dog poop prior to checking out. Any damage to the property, including accidents on the floor or dog chewing will be taken from guest’s deposit. There are gates on upper deck to contain the dogs, but dogs are otherwise open to the full property and wilderness so we recommend only bringing dogs with good recall and keeping dogs on leash when outside. There are predators for dogs (mountain lions, etc). Dogs may not be left out and unattended at the cabin while you are away. You must either kennel your pets or take them with you while out.
FAQ:
- We are located at 9600 ft so please keep yourself well hydrated & use oxygen cans if necessary . Bring your winter clothes or seasonally appropriate outfits (often 20 degrees cooler than Denver in the summer) & relevant gears to fully enjoy our famous ever changing seasons.
- Unfortunately, Clear Creek County is longer allowing outdoor fire pits nor outdoor grills for airbnbs due to wild fire risk. There is now an electric grill at the property.
- Guests must observe all private property signs! No exceptions. Our neighbors value their privacy (as do all mountain folks) and we want to respect that. Please reference our guidebook for more information.
- One of the wild things of living in a remote, rural area in the mountains is that intense weather can impact the electricity. Xcel Energy will sometimes shut down the power to do maintenance work and there's unfortunately nothing we can do about it. We use those times to light the fire and some candles and snuggle in with books and games.
- Cell phone service is spotty on the mountain (seems to work about 85% of the time depending on your carrier) so make sure to get the WiFi password and the code for the smart lock before making your way up the mountain.
- Stairs required for access
- Satellite wifi means internet isn't necessarily perfect, but we have the best internet money can buy and usually have no issues.
- Cabin uses septic (only toilet paper allowed in toilets).
- $250 fee for smoking indoors
- Well water access (limit shower length & consecutive use)
- MUST read directions in Cabin for use of fireplace, etc.
