Neighbourhood
Uptown/Garden District is the absolute best neighborhood in the city. It's really where those who call NOLA home live. Its walkable, safe, friendly and full of amazing restaurants, shops, music clubs and open space. The trees are 100s of years old and offer shade while you ramble through narrow streets and neighborhoods. A great dog park is 2 blocks away and the condo is just 3 blocks from Magazine Street's restaurants, boutiques, coffee shops, bakeries and neighborhood bars. The best in the city snowball stand (Hansen's Sno-Bliz) is across the street. The neighborhood is great for biking too.
Getting to my home
Fly into New Orleans Airport and take a city cab (flat rate of $35) to the condo. Or rent a car but you really don't need a car to get around.
Nearest airport
Louis Armstrong Airport (MSY) is 20 min. drive and cabs have a flat rate of $35 to/from.
Getting Around
The city bus Route 11 is 3 blocks away which brings you directly to Canal Street downtown. Download the RTA app called "Le Pass" to navigate and use the city bus or streetcar lines. The St. Charles Ave. streetcar is a joy and it is 10 min. walk. Uber/Lyft is also widely available. Neighborhood is great for waking and biking.

People Like Us Local Guide
We'd be game to meet for a drink and show you some local spots!
Jim and I thoroughly enjoyed our 7 night stay in New Orleans at Jill’s condo! They were gracious and we were the fortunate guests that got to open their globe. This was our 2nd visit to New Orleans and the Garden District, where this apartment is located was our favorite. It’s more quiet than the French quarter, although easily accessible by the bus stop about 4 blocks away. Which, happens to be right in front of LaBoulanger , the best French bakery and cafe ever!! So stop in there for sure!
Jill was always available for any questions and ready with suggestions of where to go.
The condo is on the 3rd (top) floor with a convenient elevator. It was very clean, and so fitting with the NOLA theme everywhere. There was a welcoming snack from, none other than our favorite bakery! We really enjoyed the balcony for morning coffee or evening glass of wine. There was a nice breeze every afternoon. There is an umbrella for shade but we did not need it in mid May. It was pleasant to hear birds, and the distant ship sounds from the river nearby . Very peaceful and relaxing vibe.
We went to the French quarter 4 different days for sightseeing, so close enough to get there but we prefer the restaurants and shops on Magazine st, 4 blocks away.
While in New Orleans, the World War 2 museum is a short distance and very fascinating as is their zoo and aquarium. The best part of New Orleans is the food and the friendly people, so having a great host is such a plus . You will have a delightful experience with this host. I felt like we were visiting good friends and we have actually not met yet. We are hoping to host them in our home soon and actually visit and meet.

Elizabeth and Jim were simply lovely guests and for our first PLU guests they were a dream. They were so communicative, energetic and EASY to host. They were over and above respectful of our home and were easy going and kind which is all you can ever ask for with guests. They truly made us so excited to be part of this PLU community. I could tell how much they loved New Orleans and our home and nothing makes me happier than sharing our amazing city and home with those who soak up every facet. Thank you Elizabeth and Jim, cannot wait to come see y'all in NC!
Thank you for having us. We look forward to hosting you. You made our visit to New Orleans so easy.
Thank you

Jill
Hi y’all! We’re Jill and Tim 👋
We split our time between our two homes — one in New Orleans, Louisiana and the other in Kittery, Maine USA. We were both raised in New England but fell hard for the energy, music, people and food of New Orleans. Now we get to enjoy the best of both worlds!
We’re mid-40s digital professionals who love to travel, meet new people, and find great local spots wherever we go. We’re big fans of the path less traveled — over the years we’ve lived aboard our sailboat and even our VW bus. We love exploring, eating local food, trying the local beer, and soaking up the local vibe.
We’re looking to swap homes with folks in new-to-us places, from long weekends to stays up to a month. For longer exchanges, we’d likely bring our sweet dog Gumbo along for the adventure.
Jill grew up doing home exchanges with her family, so we’re excited to get back into it! We’re also experienced hosts and guests on Airbnb and Furnished Finder — we take great care of the homes we stay in and love welcoming new friends into ours.
We’re open to exchanging one or both of our homes and can’t wait to see where this takes us!
My wife Jill and sometime our golden retriever named Gumbo
