- Large detached, comfortable, quiet and private house. It’s our sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.
- Minutes away from beautiful beaches.
- Across the road from St Catherine’s Hill, a fab nature reserve with lovely walks and views over The New Forest.
- Minutes away from fun family attractions, great nature walks and shopping
- You can get to London in 2 hours by train from a station 1 mile from the house or it's a 2+ hours drive.
- We can include an automatic VW Passat or an automatic Skoda Roomster with the swap
We moved to this house last year and think it’s amazing and by far the fanciest place we’ve ever lived but we also have a very simple no fuss lifestyle! All our furniture is second hand and there's not a full matching set of anything - from wine glasses to bedlinen - but does it really matter? As long as it works we're happy.
The carpets have seen better days but the house is clean and very comfortable. If you look hard enough you'd most likely find dust in places that are hard to reach but if you are easy going and value a safe, comfortable, peaceful place for you and your family, we're sure you'll be happy here.
The space
Master bedroom with en-suite bathroom: Super King Size Bed made up of two 90cm mattresses and two single duvets.
Bedroom 2: A single bed 90 cm wide with a trundle raised bed so the bedroom can sleep two people comfortably.
Bedroom 3: A single bed 90cm wide with a trundle raised bed so the bedroom can sleep two people comfortably.
Bedroom 4: A single IKEA Hemnes bed that pulls out to sleep two people. Each mattress is 80cm wide.
Downstairs office: A single IKEA Hemnes bed to sleep one person.
Three bathrooms: One en-suite to the master bedroom, a family bathroom upstairs and a downstairs bathroom with a shower.
Dining area with table that seats 6.
Four electric recliners in the living room, the sofa and chairs comfortably seats five people but we also have two IKEA armchairs that can be added and used in this room.
As we sometimes have our baby nephew to stay there is a high chair, a baby bath, a couple of blow up baby pools for the garden, and a few toys suitable for babies and young toddlers.
We have a large private southwest facing garden where you can sunbathe and relax without being overlooked. There are sun loungers, comfortable sofas and an outside table that seats 8. There’s a BBQ at your disposal. There's also a sofa area outside. One hammock to lie down in and two sitting hammocks.
We have masses of beach gear that you can borrow. Everything from tables and chairs to blankets, beach towels, body boards, buckets and other toys, and a foldable trolley that goes in the boot to help you ferry it all down the beach.
There are 4 bicycles you can borrow that suit teenagers/adults.
Guest access
The house is on two floors.
There is one step up from the driveway into the porch. The rest of the downstairs is all one level.
There are steps from the patio down onto the grass in the garden.

Neighbourhood
We are at the eastern end of the BCP (Bournemouth Christchurch Poole) conurbation and our house sits almost adjacent to St Catherine's Nature Reserve on the edge of The New Forest with its beautiful walks and views.
Our nearest town centre is Christchurch which is 1.5 miles away and walkable in half an hour or drive there in a few minutes. There are plenty of shops and restaurants, a beautiful church, a pretty harbour and several supermarkets. Bournemouth, which is a much larger town, is a 10 minute drive west and Poole is just a little bit further from there.
Nearby there are two small supermarkets (Co-Op and Nisa), a cafe/bar, florist, corner shop, a superb pizza take-away and a chinese take away within a few minutes walk.
There is a bus stop two minutes from the house and a train station 1 mile away but to really enjoy the area we suggest driving and not relying on public transport.
It takes 7 minutes by car to the beautiful award winning sandy beach at Sobo (short for Southbourne) where you'll find a cafe/bar that serves food, drinks and ice cream. 10 minutes away by car gets you to Mudeford Quay at the entrance to Christchurch Harbour with its pubs, restaurants and all manner of water activities. In summer there will be more traffic so will take a bit longer - but either place is an easy half hour bike ride from the house.
If these don’t take your fancy, you could travel just a few minutes further and explore Avon beach, Hengistbury head, Highcliffe beach, Boscombe beach, Bournemouth beach and Poole Harbour with the famous Sandbanks.
We are a 15 minute drive from the New Forest where you’ll find beautiful walks, quaint country pubs and wild horses and donkeys roaming the countryside.
Within an hour of the house, you can visit places like Stonehenge, Shaftesbury, Swanage and the Jurassic Coast with gems like Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove.
Isle of Wight is another day trip worth exploring and is accessible by car/ferry.
For more active family fun there's lots of water sports, boat sightseeing trips, Monkey World, Farmer Palmer's Farm Park, Moors Valley Country Park (Go Ape), Dorset Adventure Park, Splashdown, Paulton's Park (Peppa Pig world), Rock Reef at Bournemouth Pier...the list goes on!

Maria
Our family consists of Piero & Maria and our two children; Red, our son who is 12 and Railay, our daughter who is 11.
We are a well travelled family of Swedish/Italian/German heritage who have lived in Sweden, America, Singapore, Spain and England. We have house swapped before on a different platform and think this is such a great way to travel. We will look after your home like our own.
We moved to Christchurch on the Dorset coast last year and absolutely love our new life by the sea!
It's a big world out there and although flight prices will dictate whether we can afford to visit your destination, we are open to any and all suggestions!
To travel as a family we are tied to UK holidays which are roughly two weeks over Christmas, one week end of Feb, two weeks over Easter, one week end of May, 6 weeks end July - beginning of Sept, and one week end of October.
For summer 2025 we are looking for a beach holiday somewhere hot and sunny.
We are also available to house sit/pet sit at other times as a way for one of us (Piero or Maria) to get a break on their own. Especially interested to get a chance for some winter sun to help with painful arthritis!
