What a great time we had in Malmö. Birgitta and Håkan’s home is just your dream's holiday home. We travelled with our son and girlfriend and the house easily accommodated us. Spacious, light, cozy, and so well equipped. Breakfast in the lovely open kitchen, reading in the lounge area, making our 1000-piece jigsaws on the dining table in the light and sleeping in our cozy bedrooms with private bathrooms. The location of the apartment – a lovely historic building - was fantastic: a 5 minutes’ walk to the shopping area with lovely bakeries like Gateau and the St. Jakobs Stenugnsbageri (incredibly delicious croissants). In Malmö we loved the bakeries, coffee/teashops and had our wonderful Swedish meatball experience at Bullen – 4 min walk from the apartment (book ahead,, it is always fully booked). Two train stations are at 10 - 15 minutes walking distance for easy trips to Lund, Copenhagen or the airport. The neighbourhood is quiet and bustling at the same time: large upscale apartment buildings with inner courtyards and in between sweet small squares with cozy little restaurants. The characteristic bustling old town is at less than a 10 min walk. Looking for fresh fish? Cross the street and walk through the beautiful park along the water to Fiskehoddorna (open mornings only). The apartment is so nicely decorated – we loved the wall with the colourful canvases and all the special Christmas decorations. Due to the weather (heavy rains, storms and snow) and the Christmas period,(shops closed) we stayed a bit more inside than we usually do. Or was it because the apartment was so nice that we just didn’t want to go out? We did 4 jigsaw puzzles! of 1000 pieces.! Håkan and Birgitta were so kind to us - they left the loveliest apple juice, cookies, gifts and a fridge full for lunch and drinks for us. Apart from lovely Malmö, it is so easy to visit other places. We went to Lund (charming) and visited Copenhagen twice: 4 trains/hour and just a ½ hour ride. Don’t miss the spectacular Louisiana museum 1 hour from Copenhagen; you can reach that with train/bus (1:50 hr) but we did that by car crossing the famous bridge. Highly, highly recommended. We had a wonderful, homely Christmas in the home of what we definitely can say “our Swedish Friends”. We can’t wait to host Birgitta and Håkan back in Amsterdam. Thank you so much!
Birgitta & Håkan was the best exchange partners so friendly and so easy to get along with they even invited us for dinner in their countryside home. Very easy to communicate with. Their penthouse apartment is both very modern, stylish and also with a cozy small teracce. Their home has the best location in Malmö which is a very nice city with lot of restaurants. Perfect bike city and we borrowed their two comfortable bikes and went through the big green parks nearby. We are looking forward to give back their hospitality with them as our guest in our second this autumn. Strongly recomended. Hope to see you in September Birgitta & Håkan!
Feedback for Lizette & Arnold·Non-Simultaneous exchange·8 nights
Wow! Lizette and Arnold are wonderful hosts. We got the pleasure to meet them in their beautiful home for lunch. It felt like meeting old friends and you could feel how much they wanted us to enjoy our stay. The apartment is one of two in a modern house in the middle of the coolest area in Amsterdam. Jordaan! What a great location. So many restaurants and shops!
We loved it. Their home is stylish and full of memories from their travels around the world.
Feedback for Lizette & Arnold·Non-Simultaneous exchange·9 nights
Lizette and Arnold are wonderful guests. Great communication and great house guests. We had a video meeting with them before the exchange and felt directly like we were talking to old friends. They spent 10 days in our home in December-January together with their son and his spouse. Unfortunately didn’t the weather choose to be cooperative. But they did the best of the situation and explored both Malmo, Copenhagen and Lund. When we came home we found very thoughtful gifts and our home in perfect condition. If you get a request from Lizette and Arnold I strongly recommend you to accept. They are the best! And we are looking forward to stay in their home in Amsterdam.
