Approximately 1.5 miles to our uncrowned beaches, a short ride to famous Brookgreen Gardens and 15 minutes to Murrells Inlet and the wonderful seafood and Marshwalk. Thirty minutes to Myrtle Beach, and 1.5 hours drive to Charleston, SC for a great day trip!
The space
This is a five bedroom beach cabin approx. 1.5 miles from the nearest beach access point. Walk to grocery store and restaurants in quaint Pawleys Island. The fifth bedroom is used as a cool hang out space for the teens, but has a comfy sofa bed. From this bedroom you have direct access to the back patio. The cabin was unloved and in shambles, but we have been restoring it to a cozy little place by the sea. We have left the knotty pine walls and heart pine floors. As such, those who prefer high rise condos with lots of new stuff and white walls may not enjoy our place. We have a clean, comfortable cabin. It is comfy and warm, not luxury at all.
The house and kitchen are purposely designed for a low maintenance. The kitchen includes a full sized refrigerator, and stove, dishwasher, large double bowl apron sink, cabinets, and small butcher block rolling cart. There is silverware, glasses, and dishes for 10 guest. There are also a full set of pots and pans, small baking set, spices, manual can opener, a small grill set, and wine bottle opener. Things we do not keep at the cabin are things like a lot of extra utensils, and any other optional items.
Guest access
There are approximately 4 steps to get into the home. The home is a single level with no interior stairs.

Neighbourhood
The home is bordered on 2 sides by natural wooded wetlands areas. It is in a beach community comprised of high-end new beach villas, modest homes, and manufactured homes. All are nice friendly people. We are three blocks from the marsh where neighbors and visitors fish for shrimp and oysters. The beach is a bit over 1 mile away, but not easily reached by foot. Lots of restaurants and grocery stores walkable within 10 minutes.
Getting to my home
It is best to rent a car as there is so much to explore in our area.
Nearest airport
Myrtle beach airport is approximately 30 minutes away, Charleston, SC airport around 90 minutes away.
Getting around
By car mainly, but lots of restaurants and 2 grocery stores are within a 20 minute walk.

Darlene
We are two university professors in our 50’s. Reggie left a 21 year corporate year to teach engineering. Darlene teaches accounting.. We have been married over 30 years, and we have a well traveled 25 year old son who occasionally travels with us depending on his schedule. We have travelled frequently in the US and abroad. We have also lived and taught abroad.
We have always enjoyed staying in homes, well before it became popular. We just enjoy the local experience, going to farmers markets, sitting at a local wine bar. We don't have parties, loud music (without our headphones), and are very respectful of your home, as we hope you will be with ours. We have over 60 5* completed exchanges on another platform. We love home exchanging!
Our houses are in New Orleans, in a bohemian area called The Bywater; and coastal South Carolina very close to the beach (less than 2 miles), a day trip to Charleston is less than 2 hours away.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
