General Overview

Our little cottage home is located in Northgate, a 10 minute drive from Brisbane Airport. Perfect for your early or late departure or arrival from another location. Northgate is 10km from central Brisbane. There are buses every 10 mins to Brisbane within 5-10 mins walk of the house. There are two easily accessible train stations Virginia and Northgate with walking distances of 5 mins or 15 mins. You can travel around quite easily using buses, trains or Uber from our location. There are cafes, within walking distance as well as walking and cycling pathways beside along Downfall Creek. The Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast are both approximately one and a half hours drive south or north from the house. The close proximity to the motorway means that a trip to either location is quick.

The Space

The house is our primary home but as we travel frequently so our two guest rooms are often available. Access to the house is via a short flight of stairs from the front porch. Our courtyard garden is very private and a lovely place to sit and read or to stretch out on the daybed. Internally there is a modern kitchen living and dining space, a separate bathroom and a full laundry downstairs in the garage. There are two guest bedrooms, one with a quenn bed and the other has two single chair beds. The living bedrooms all have fans and aircon units for the hot weather we often have in Brisbane.

Guest Access

The property has a short flight of stairs internally and externally. Guest will find a lockbox beneath the front stairs with keys to access the house. Unfortunately we are not suitable for guests who require wheelchair access.

Notes

Garbage bins are located at the front of the property and are emptied on Wednesday each week for household waste and fortnightly for recycled water or green waste. If you have a vehicle, parking can be on the driveway of the property or across the road on the wide verge.

Neighbourhood

The neighbourhood is quiet and a safe location where it is fine to walk day or night. All areas are well lit and public transport is close to the property. Our neighbours are very friendly and can assist if you have questions.

Getting to my home

From the airport, the best transport is booking an uber or Didi ride. It is the cheapest and most direct way. If you are driving then accessing the apartment from the north or south is best done by accessing the the Virginia exit along Toombul Road. The major route from the city is via Sandgate Road. Cruise passengers should use Uber and Didi as the quickest way to arrive or depart from the cruise terminal.

Brisbane airport is 8km and 11 mins drive from our home.

Getting Around

As mentioned there is good connections using public transport to Brisbane city and also other shopping centres via train and bus.

Hello from a couple of Aussie adventurers - Ian and Christina McKay. Apart from living in one of the most scenic locations in Australia, we spend our time working with indigenous farmers in Mindanao Philippines raising dairy goats and creating superb soft goat cheeses. That is a satisfying retirement past time but we do enjoy having adventures and visiting new places and meeting new people.
