General Overview

A change of scenery guaranteed, less than 100 km from Montreal!  

The cottage is located in Lanaudière, near Chertsey.  
In an unspoilt and beautiful location! 
Located at the end of a peninsula, it is a place of absolute calm! 
Ecological and rejuvenating stay only, for nature lovers! 

Beautiful unobstructed view of the lake in winter, and a little more intimate in summer because of the surrounding greenery. With its windows on 3 sides, the cottage gives the impression of being immersed in nature. 

New cottage of 2023, located about an hour from Montreal: I can also exchange my pied-à-terre in Montreal (2 bedrooms, 4 people), or make a mix of both!  
I am very flexible and can accept just about any date since I have 2 properties. 

Access to the lake via a private road to a dock and private platform.  
Access to the lake on foot only, no car access.

I've been trading for 30 years and I like to welcome my guests as friends, simply and without fuss. I even spend time with them sometimes :)

The Space

A recent (2022-23), 1,700 sq. ft. cottage with two large bedrooms, in a beautiful and unspoilt corner of Lanaudière, near Chertsey. 

With its large windows on 3 sides, it really feels like living in the forest! It's downright magical :)

In winter, there is a beautiful unobstructed view of the lake. In summer, we are in a green setting, with a partial view of the water.  
And everyone tells me that the chalet is more beautiful in real life than in the photos, which don't totally convey the impression of space and volumes :)

Suitable for up to 6 people (1 queen bed, 1 double bed + 1 modular bed that can become queen or subdivide into 2 single beds).  
So I can accommodate 3 couples, or 2 couples + 2 people. 

I have two large bedrooms, one of which is set up like a loft: it is visually separated from the living room by a wall, but it communicates with the large glazed living room.  
The loft-style configuration gives the impression of being immergé.es in the forest from anywhere in the living room/kitchen... or bedroom. 
It's a bit of a "forest open" concept. 

A spa is accessible directly from the house, on the balcony of the master bedroom. 
But there is also access through the garden. 
It operates from May to October. I close it for the winter 

My cottage is mostly suitable for adults and families with big kids, due to the balcony and patio setup: the balcony in the parents' bedroom (80 cm off the ground) has no railing, and the patio cables are spaced far enough apart for a small child to fit between them.  
But I have already welcomed families with young children, and I do not wish to exclude them from my exchanges.  
But I prefer that parents know these particularities before deciding, so that they can judge whether the house suits them and make their arrangements:)

For babies: as I have a granddaughter, I am quite well equipped for babies and children up to 2 years old: cot, playpen, high chair, booster seat, bathtub, Babycook, etc. Ask me according to your needs! 

The lake, the spa and the pleasures of summer: 

The cottage is not directly on the water's edge: the lake is 100 m away, accessible on foot via my private road. At the end of the path, I have a large floating platform connected to a walkway, with sun loungers and everything you need for swimming. 
The lake has no public access: to enjoy it, you have to know someone who lives on its shores... or make an exchange with me:)
Calm and privacy guaranteed. 

For the winter: 
The cottage is recent, very well insulated, with a heat pump and independently adjustable heated floors in each room. For those who are sensitive to the cold: it's super comfortable.  
Personally, I live there in a T-shirt all winter :) 
The icing on the cake: I also have a wood stove. 

I explain how the heaters work before your arrival, and if you have any questions, I am always reachable. 

My driveway is cleared of snow in the winter, but you have to do the patio and the porch with a snowblower in case of a storm.  

It is a place to recharge your batteries, rest with family or friends. And enjoy the spa or swimming, walks in the forest behind, kayak trips on the lake and in the river... with great respect for our environment.

Guest Access

House on one floor. The entrance is located at the back of the house.  
In winter, it is accessed by a staircase with 6 steps that leads to the terrace and gallery. 
In summer, it is also accessible from the back with only 1 step, but no tarmac path, you walk in the grass.

Notes

I lend 2 kayaks and 1 paddle board.  

The hill behind the house is common property and you can practice rackets and cross-country skiing. Or walk in the summer. 

In summer, the water is hot and can range from 22° (in cool weather) to 28° (in heat waves). 
In winter, you can ski or skite-surf on the lake.  

It is only accessible to lakeside owners, no public access, it is very quiet and wild. 

The lake is large, and has 4 small bays, each with its own charm. 
It is navigable, so there are motorboats, but no public access, so never very busy.  
It takes about an hour to kayak around (at a good pace), so it's not a small lake. You can really have fun there! 

For safety reasons of the water of the lake (algae), it is forbidden to bring your own boats (paddle type), unless you talk to me and give me a guarantee that you have gone to the village washing station. 

You will be at my place as you would be at your friends' house. So, if you have any special needs or expectations, do not hesitate to talk to me before confirming the exchange! 

I lend 2 kayaks and 2 inflatable paddles.  

Out of respect for my neighbors (and for me), I don't allow parties or outdoor music.  

Many of the neighbors are friends and can be contacted when needed. 

And a small request to protect our lake: please do not bring your own boats or boards without telling me first. If you wish to use them, they will have to be washed at the free station in the village, to avoid introducing unwanted species. This is very important for all the residents of the lake! 
And anyway, I already lend a lot of equipment :)

Neighbourhood

Located on a peninsula served by a private road, it is still a wild corner... of absolute calm, with the lake 100 meters away and the forest just behind the house for magnificent walks or picking, depending on the season. 

My chalet is located on two juxtaposed plots, i.e. 10,000 m² in total. The space around it is therefore very intimate. 
The path that passes in front of the house is private and dead-end: no traffic, except for my neighbors who are going home. There's no better way to recharge your batteries! 

The village and surroundings: 
 
the village of Entrelacs is a 3 minute drive or 10 minutes by bike. 
It's a tiny village: no cafes or restaurants! But we have a grocery store, a hardware store, a church, a town hall and a gas station/convenience store. It's minimalist, but that's also why we love it:)

The grocery store is also very good: fruits, vegetables, good meat and fish, and every day a few dishes cooked on site.  

For cafes and restaurants, you have to drive towards Rawdon or Sainte-Marguerite. 
Rawdon is 30 minutes away, Sainte-Marguerite is 20 minutes away, and Saint-Donat, Val-David or Saint-Sauveur is about 40 minutes away. 

And what do we do at the cottage for a week? 
I always answer: you won't even have enough a week to do everything! :)

Summer
First, there is the lake! It is large, with four small bays that each have their own charm. It takes about an hour to go around it by kayak, at a good pace. So it's not a small lake, you can really have fun there! 
It is navigable, so there are a few motorboats, but since there is no public access, it is never very crowded. 
The water is generally warm, around 24 to 26 °C all summer. It can vary from 20 °C in cool weather to 28 °C in heat waves, and cool down abruptly for a day or two after heavy rains. 

On the program: swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, walks in the forest behind the house, hikes in the Ouareau forest (10 minutes by car), discovery of the villages and small towns of the region... 

You can also spend a day at Dorwin Falls in Rawdon, discover the Lac des Îles à Entrelacs, ride a bike on the P'tit Train du Nord (more than 200 km of trail!) or explore the trails of the Val-David Regional Park. Not to mention the cultural activities of all these small villages! 

And winter? 

You can access the hill directly behind the house for snowshoeing in the powder, walking or cross-country skiing depending on the conditions. 
I trace a track of about 2 km on my land and the common ground. There is another one, traced by my neighbours, which starts from the top of the hill... just follow the tracks:)

The lake also offers beautiful scenery in winter. For any activity on the ice, it is imperative to check the local safety conditions. 

There is a huge skating ring on the lake of Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson (15 minutes away), and several downhill ski resorts not too far away, the closest being Montcalm. 
And if you choose to go skiing in Saint-Sauveur, there is no traffic on the road: we take a transversal road! 
And of course, there are plenty of other winter activities in the area! 

And the rest of the time? 
You can also do nothing at all! Enjoy the silence, the forest, the chalet... and rest:)
It is above all a place to recharge your batteries, with family or friends, and enjoy nature while respecting it. 

The neighbourhood: 
Out of respect for my neighbours, no parties or music outside. Do we come here for the peace and quiet:)
Many of my neighbours have become friends and can be contacted when needed. This is also what makes this little corner so nice.

Getting to my home

From Montreal, from my condo, it's a 1h10 drive on the A25.  
You can also come directly from Montreal-Trudeau airport (1h25 drive by the A15)

Getting Around

A car is required to get around.  

By bike, if you're sporty (I once had an exchange with a guy who was telecommuting... and cycling)!

I've been doing home exchanges since 1995. It's a way of life for me.  
I had 2 and 5 year old children at my 1st exchange, and I have since become a grandmother!  
Suffice to say that I have a whole life of exchanges behind me... even before the invention of the internet! Exchange is definitely in my DNA. 
 
Over the years, I have done exchanges several times a year, in North America, Europe, the Caribbean and French Polynesia.  
In total, I have carried out more than a hundred exchanges and I have welcomed at least as many guests, more often for holidays than for weekends. 

I was on another site, but when I joined PLU, I wanted to reconnect with a more user-friendly formula. 

I've been partially retired since this year: I still work a little bit in film dubbing (cinema film and TV series) and in the past, I was a cartoon scriptwriter.  

I'm nomadic at least 4 months a year, so I'm open to everything!  

I am very flexible on dates, as I have 2 houses: an apartment in Montreal and a cottage.  

I love kayaking, swimming, cross-country skiing, museums, cities as well as the countryside. I love destinations that are out of the ordinary, I can't stand overtourism. 

I can exchange for a week, or a month. 

I am sometimes accompanied by a friend, or one of my daughters.
