Leigh and Grant were fantastic guests and took great care of our home. When we returned, we wondered if it was even cleaner than when we left!
They were able to navigate our Japanese appliances, master the garbage calendar and were self-sufficient throughout their stay. We are located in a rural location, but they had no issue finding our house and arriving themselves.
From the beginning, we had quick, concise and clear communication.
Leigh and Grant, thank you for making our first exchange go so smoothly. You are welcome back anytime
Leigh was a lovely guest, easy to communicate with and very pleasant. Left our house in perfect order. Thank you Leigh.
We experienced a fabulous week at Krista's house in Tobetsu, Hokkaido, Japan. The home is large, interesting and very comfortable with everything we needed, and more. Krista is an incredible host providing extensive information and clear directions around the house. This made us feel extremely comfortable and welcome. The house was beautifully prepared, clean and uncluttered.
The home itself is large and peaceful, layed out on several levels. The traditional bathroom with twin showering areas, and a large bath which looks out onto the trees. What a treat after a big day out kayaking on Lake Shitoksu! We also embraced the futon beds.
There is a great kitchen which I put to the test, trying out my skills buying ingredients at the local supermarkets and cooking Japanese style. Krista had made a full set of condiments available as well as lovely drip coffee.
The house is in a rural location but supermarkets are only 15 minutes away by road. We visited local restaurants inluding the izakya Krista recommended in Tobetsu (superb!) and a bakery just along the road, where we happily joined the queue for delicious breads and bakery items.
The Tobetsu area is an agricultural area which makes it interesting. While it is not possible to walk to any locations, with a hire car we were able to have a number of day trips exploring natural areas, local towns and attractions.
Krista and family, thank you for a lovely experience.
Staying at Holly's home was the highlight of eight weeks in Bali. The house is a sanctuary and provides a quiet, peaceful retreat away from the bustle of Ubud, while only being a 5 minute walk from shops and restaurants.
The home's open design allows for relaxed living, is beautifully decorated, and has everything! We were well looked after by the housekeeping staff who came in twice a week, and communication with Holly was easy and prompt. We feel very privileged to have stay in this lovely home. Thank you.

Grant and I enjoy an active retirement. We have a home in the South Island of New Zealand and also homes near Wellington.
We enjoy touring New Zealand in our truck camper, fly fishing and exploring new places.
We have four adult children and one grand-daughter. Two daughters live in Wellington, while the others live in Adelaide and Melbourne in Australia.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
