Neighbourhood
The friendliest people in the bay, start chatting to them and most likely you will be invited over for a beer and bbq! There is no wifi but you can use data. You will also need to bring all your own food, necessities as the closest shop is 35 minutes away. Great bay for long walks on the beach, also Stony Bay for amazing coastal walks is only 9km away.
Getting to my home
You need your own car. The drive up the Coromandel is incredible, hugging the coastline with views. The last 14km or so are on an unsealed road, very windy and you need to take care. But so worth it!
Nearest airport
Auckland, about 3 hours away.

We had a lovely relaxing 5 nights at Sue’s charming “kiwi bach” located near the top of the Coromandel peninsula. The main house offers 2 very comfortable bedrooms with queen beds and a cosy kitchen, dining and living area plus bathroom and laundry. There is a second dwelling out back with multiple beds and a bathroom so that would be perfect if you have extra kids/teens travelling with you.
The location is idyllic for a summer holiday, a beautiful beach across the road plus Sue also had kayaks available for us to use.
While there is no tv or wifi there are lots of fun board games and books to enjoy and it’s the perfect opportunity to “switch off” for a few days and share family time plus there is good cellphone coverage if needed.
Sue was really friendly and great to communicate with. Even though we didn't make it as planned we hope to visit your beach house and the Coromandel another time 😊 All the best and we look forward to hosting you and Craig in Sweden on your future travels!
We had a wonderful stay at Sue & Craig's cosy beach house. The location is absolutely stunning — right on the beach with such a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. It’s a proper Kiwi getaway! We loved kayaking around the bay - being out on the water in beautiful surroundings.
Sue was fantastic — so accommodating and incredibly quick to respond to any questions. She made everything easy and stress-free.
Hi Sue we hope you enjoyed the stay! Thanks for leaving our place clean and tidy and feeding Hector the goldfish! We look forward to visiting you in New Zealand!
It was a pleasure to host Sue, Cindy and Anna for a hospitality stay for a few days at our house in Katoomba. We enjoyed their company, and sharing drinks and stories with them. They were ideal guests!
So lovely to have Sue stay at our place. Came back to a very happy cat and everything was spotless. We can’t wait to get over to New Zealand for a visit, hopefully in 2026. Sue is welcome back anytime!
This exchange went well. Sue was a very discreet host. We had the pleasure of welcoming these travelers from far away... we wish them great discoveries in Europe.
Sue and her friends were the perfect houseguests. Communication was excellent and it was a really easy exchange to organise. The house was left spotlessly clean and the most amazing flowers were left on the bench. Thank you Sue, you are welcome back anytime!
Sue and Craig are welcoming and generous hosts, and great company. Michael and I stayed at both their homes and enjoyed spending time in parts of New Zealand we may otherwise not get to. Sue showed me around the area and their farm while we were staying with Sue and Craig in Waitoa. We then spent 3 nights at Sue and Craig's beach house in Port Charles, on Coromandel Peninsula. This area is beautiful. I would recommend a stay at either of Sue and Craig's homes if you like to go somewhere off the beaten track.

What a fabulous home to spend time with our family, thank you. Everything was perfect, way nicer than staying in a hotel. Right on the beach and having the use of their bikes was great fun. Thanks and we look forward to having you at our farm!

What an awesome hospitality exchange with Faye and Michael. They were so welcoming, helping us decide which hikes to do, restaurants to go to. Best quizz night partner thanks Michael!

What a great little stay I had in Thirroul, their home is perfect and it was really kind to lend me their car while staying. I saw many birds, a few large lizards and of course Squiggy cat kept me company. Thank you Freya and family, we can’t wait to have you stay in NZ!

So lovely to meet Faye and Michael, hosted for a night at our farm before they headed off to our beach bach. Thank you for the yummy homemade marmalade, delicious! We look forward to catching up with you both in Katoomba next year.
Feedback for Maggie and Aron·Non-Simultaneous exchange·2 nights
What a fabulous short break we have just had, thank you Maggie and Aaron for your perfect home, it was warm, clean and inviting. A very good area to bike ride from too. I would definitely recommend an exchange with these lovely people!
