We had such a wonderful stay at Judith and Tim's home! The house was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We especially loved spending time on the patio, enjoying the beautiful lake view and the constant soundtrack of birds. It was so peaceful. The location was perfect for visiting family and exploring the Eastern Townships. We wandered through charming villages, visited covered bridges, discovered great local food, and enjoyed beautiful scenic drives in the countryside. It was also a chance for me to revisit places I remembered from my youth, which made the trip extra special. Judith and Tim were perfect hosts: friendly, thoughtful, and easy to communicate with throughout the exchange. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and look forward to meeting them in the future. Thank you both for sharing your lovely home with us!

What a perfect vacation in a gorgeous location. The view from the large living room window, right out to Lake Champlain, makes it very, very tempting to just be still, snuggle up under a cozy blanket, and relax…which is exactly what we did several days! On other days, we ventured out to surrounding areas in Quebec and Vermont - so quaint and especially beautiful with the foliage. We had the best sleep - crisp night air, zero light pollution, and the most comfortable beds. I will miss the beds!! Judith was a great communicator, during the exchange process and the exchange itself. She made it super easy and super inviting to return again (which we would like)!! Thank you!

This comfortable, well-appointed cottage located on Missisquoi Bay is in a beautiful wooded area close the Vermont border and Phillipsburg. We especially enjoyed the sunsets over the lake while having a glass of wine. Also, enjoyed day trips to Venice-en-Que's beaches, the Eastern Townships' wine route and walking trails, as well as shopping in Burlington, Vermont.

We just returned from the best exchange with Debra and Douglas. They are a warm and generous couple who invited us to come a couple of nights early for a hospitality stay just so we could meet and explore the many things the four of us have in common. They cooked a dinner for us with elk from a local elk farm and highlighted many other tasting experiences for us to consider. Their lovely home is well equipped and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We particularly enjoyed the view over the lake from the solarium and the birdsong. Debra created a detailed home guide with explanations of points of interest with links that we found to be very helpful. We communicated often during the exchange, and it definitely feels like we've become friends. It has been a pleasure to exchange with these new-to-PLU exchangers, and we wholeheartedly look forward to welcoming them into our home in a few months.

Julie and Vincent were the perfect guests. We had great interactions before the exchange, and a request to exchange initiated a few years ago finally came to fruition. Julie was clear about what they needed (Vincent would be working remotely) and what they would risk (unknown noise level from a house being built right next door). Thankfully the neighborhood was almost its normal peaceful state by the time of their arrival. Julie kept in touch, letting me know of a delayed arrival and touched base a couple of times during the exchange--and even shared a story of meeting a neighbor of ours she knew years ago. She asked permission to have family members over to visit, which was much appreciated. On our arrival home, we found everything spotlessly clean and in good order. We would not hesitate to exchange with Julie and Vincent again, and would welcome an opportunity to meet them in person.

What a lovely time we had staying with Angela and Joe in their home in Charlottesville. They were gracious and kind hosts and invited us to join them for dinner one night, as well as sharing breakfast. This was our first hospitality-like experience, and they showed us how wonderful it can be to share space with and get to know our hosts. Joe and Angela were so accommodating when we had to reschedule our visit. Their house is spacious and beautiful--with great views from a large deck over the Blueridge mountains. The Charlottesville downtown is historic and very attractive, as is the UVA campus. We visited Jefferson's Monticello homestead and found the tour we took there so informative and entertaining. All in all, it was a great experience, and we highly recommend a visit to the Charlottesville area (we didn't even get started on the many wineries in the area) and Angela and Joe's home in particular.

We spent a lovely weekend at Kate and Jonathan's beautiful home in Poughkeepsie. Their home is in a very quiet neighborhood on the edge of the Vassar campus, so perfect for walking and close to shops and restaurants. The Hudson Valley is so beautiful we wish we had had more time to enjoy it. We shared the home with Theo, their very sweet cat, who gave us a few laughs. Kate was a joy to organize with, and we would love to return again some day.

Megan, Nichole, and Eden were excellent guests in our home. They rolled with a couple of minor power outages because of storms shortly after their arrival and didn't let it dent their enthusiams at all. We were so thrilled to hear about their escapades in the Townships and how they soaked in so many experiences. Their appreciation of the lake and its surroundings reminded us of its beauty again. We had the best week at Linda and Phil's beautiful Waterloo home. It was close to family and conveniently allowed all the visiting we wanted to do, but it was also located close to walking paths and the Laurel Conservation area where we spent an afternoon cycling and soaking in the peace of the lake. Their neighborhood is quiet and peaceful in spite of being close to major arteries and shopping (and Costco!), affording us time to rest and listen to the frogs croaking in the creek behind the house. Linda and Phil were gracious and accommodating hosts who I would recommend to anyone looking to experience this gorgeous area of Southwestern Ontario.

We had such a lovely time at Tamara and Bill's home on St. Simons Island. Their home is located in a quiet location but close to all the island has to offer--great food, beaches, tours etc. The home itself has a lovely front porch and back patio for sitting and listening to the birds while having a morning coffee. It is spacious and, modernized, and nicely decorated. Our goal was to relax and do some genuinely slow travel, and this location and home were exactly what we needed. Most mornings I walked north on the primary north-south island road and it was quiet and peaceful and a great way to experience the neighborhoods--and Tim and I both love the roosters strutting and crowing with attitude! Tamara and Bill invited us to join them and a few friends for an evening out at music bingo which was a lot of fun even though Tim and I were hopeless at it! Getting to know the "low country" on a boat cruise was another highlight of our trip. We thoroughly enjoyed exchanging with this lovely couple and would do it again.

We had such a great time at Suzie and Steve's beautiful Mairange Bay home. It was perfectly located close to the Auckland city center, but in it's own little village with a village center right on the Bay, which was within walking distance from the house. The path along the Bay provided great views. It was a good spot from wich to visit Waiheke and Rangitoto islands, as well as Devonport and other cute villages along the coast. Our day trip to Lake Taupo included a beautiful sail to see some Maori carvings, as well as a visit to a hot springs park. The home is very comfortable, with some features of which we weren envious (pantry, reading nook), a pool, and the sweetest kitty who eventually become very friendly with us. Suzie not only allowed us the use of her car but also left some generous snacks for us and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed for a perfect visit. We highly recommend Suzie and Steve as exchange partners.

We spent a lovely month at Veronica and Peter's home in Hope Island. Their home is nicely located with a grocer and other shops just across the street and central to many attractions in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. We especially loved the bush walks, the most memorable being Twin Falls in Springbrook National Park. We explored Tambourine Mountain, had lots of encounters with kangaroos and koalas (some in the wild in a local conservation area), and a boat cruise through downtown Brisbane to a koala sanctuary. Our stay was a perfect balance between relaxation (waking up to the gorgeous birdsong, relaxing on the verandah, meeting friendly neighbors at the pool) and sightseeing activities. Veronica and Peter were kind and generous hosts, and we would not hesitate to recommend an exchange with this couple and this property.

Julia's condo is a lovely third-floor unit overlooking the lovely Stratford park and the Stratford Tennis Club. We enjoyed time on the balcony just relaxing and soaking in the peace. Her home is spacious, well appointed, and we were totally comfortable there. We absolutely LOVE the location--not only right on the edge of the park along the Avon River but also just steps from the original Stratford Festival Theatre (the Festival has additional theaters in downtown Stratford). It is also within driving distance of Kitchener-waterloo, Toronto, and Niagara Falls. We would not hesitate to return.

We had a splendid time exploring New Mexico from the super comfortable and beautiful home of Rebecca and Larry. Having never spent any time in the American Southwest, we were thrilled to discover how much we liked it! There was plenty to do...lots of festivals, events, museums etc....and the scenery was dramatic and very beautiful. We also enjoyed just hanging out on the patio because the weather was perfect (not humid!), the neighborhood was so quiet, and the yard was so beautiful. We had the care of Chiquita, the cutest and sweetest kitty ever. Apart from a minor medical emergency, this was one of the best trips we've had and we would highly recommend New Mexico and Rebecca and Larry's house in particular.

We had a very pleasant experience staying at Judy and Steve's lovely condo. It is located right on the beach...a real plus for this walker. I took a long stroll in the surf every day. The pool and spa were much appreciated too! The neighbors were very friendly at the pool. The condo is located on the first floor...a big plus as we had the care of Jasper, the Rubin's sweet pups (and what a cuddler he is!) He also seems to be well known in the condo. We enjoyed exploring the area and particularly appreciated the festivals (seafood and arts) and the impressive farmer's market downtown. But the location was so lovely we didn't feel we needed to be out every day. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this kind and generous couple as exchange partners.

We are just home from a 10-day trip to Marcella and Mike’s home in Atenas and ruminating on what a great experience it was! The home was so comfortable and the view so compelling we were happy to do some “slow travel” for a change. We took advantage of some of Marcella’s excellent suggestions of places to visit—the Choco-Tour San Mateo was particularly delightful, as was the Crema y Nata bakery downtown. We enjoyed a “language respite” (and the food) one lunchtime at the Polish European Restaurant as it’s known to be an English-speaking restaurant and none of the three of us have much Spanish. We rented a car and drove ourselves around—driving in Costa Rica is an adventure in itself!--but found we had to forgo the turtle hatching tours and some other highlights because we were not brave enough to drive after dark. This was our first trip to Costa Rica; we felt we were able to embrace and appreciate the country fully, and Marcella welcomed us warmly and made sure we had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Marcella is an excellent host, and we highly recommend this couple as exchange partners.

Tim and I had a great couple of weeks being hosted by Megan and her partner Nichole at their lovely apartment in the center of Northampton. It was just a very short walk to downtown and the shops and restaurants--and the farmer's market, which I enjoyed. It was centrally located for all we wanted to do in the Valley. Megan and Nichole went out of their way to accommodate our stay in spite of significant changes in their own plans (like buying a house!), which we really appreciated as we had plans with family and friends lined up before our arrival. They are both lovely, kind people who have already invited us to their house, and we really enjoyed meeting them--a benefit of home exchange that we don't always manage to get. We look forward to continuing our relationship with them and highly recommend them as exchange partners.

Dejah and David warmly welcomed us to their home and went above and beyond in picking us up from the train station and stopping at the grocery store on the way home. Dejah gave us an orientation to the town and lots of helpful direction in using the bus and trains. Their home in in a lovely setting on a quiet street with a large yard. One of the joys of our stay was daily walks through the neighborhoods and vineyards and along the creek that runs along the property. The apartment was modern, clean, and comfortable and well appointed with everything we needed. Our stay in the Montreux Riviera with it's astounding beauty was so enjoyable it was hard to leave. It was a top notch exchange, due in no small part to our lovely hosts.

We spent two lovely weeks at the home of Virginie and Francois in Wiwersheim. Strasbourg had not been on our radar, but we were so pleased they proposed this exchange when we began to experience Strasbourg and its surroundings. It was a perfect blend of country and city. Taking the tram into Strasbourg is so easy, quick, and inexpensive that it’s feasible to go in even for half days. Strasbourg is a city worth exploring—such beauty and liveliness and historical significance. We enjoyed both the boat tour and the train tour as well as exploring on our own two feet. We also enjoyed the countryside—by walking and by driving to the plentiful nearby villages, each of which has its own eye-candy patisseries full of savory and sweet delights. We decided there is no need to cook in France. We dined out but were just as happy to bring our treats home. Virginie and Francois’ home is well appointed and comfortable and had everything we needed. They are gracious, responsible, and generous exchange partners who made our stay entirely comfortable. We highly recommend an exchange with them.

Erika and Luke's home is large, attractive, and very comfortable. We had more than enough space to cook, relax, and work remotely. I loved sitting on the front porch in the evening after a day out sightseeing to watch the sun set (and pick some fresh blueberries off the bush!). We found it to be a very convenient base from which to explore Vancouver and beyond, including downtown (via the Skyrail, very convenient), Granville Island, Grouse Mountain, Squamish, Whistler, and Fort Langley. The tenant in the basement was never seen and never heard. Roxi, the cat with whom we shared the house, was almost never seen but warmed up to us eventually. We swapped cars as well as homes and we found that to be very convenient. Their car was left for us at the airport by previous exchangers, and we were able to pick up Erika and family at the airport upon their return and thereby get to meet them. If you have never visited British Columbia, it should be on your wish list, and Erika and Luke's home is a great choice.

We spent a lovely week at Liza and Darrell's beautiful hobby farm in the heart of Southwestern Ontario. When we arrived, we had a very warm welcome from Lily, the resident sweet-tempered golden retriever. This home is perfectly located in an area that is so beautiful--prosperous farms and fields as far as the eye can see. It is also close to a few tourist towns; we had a lovely afternoon exploring the Elora Gorge and the cute shops and restaurants in downtown Elora. Communication with Liza was clear and easy throughout the whole exchange process. We found the home to be very comfortable, and we enjoyed the beautiful pool and deck area. Liza and Darrell are great hosts: do not hesitate to contact them if you are interested in exploring this beautiful area of Canada.

We had a fabulous time visiting the Outer Banks and staying at Kat and Nick’s lovely home. We loved the fact that we could walk to the beach that was just a few houses down, at the end of the street. The beach was beautiful, and the sound of the ocean carried over the dunes and was fully enjoyed during hours lounging on the upper deck of the house. While the weather was too cool for swimming, we really appreciated visiting during the shoulder season (early May) allowing us to miss the crowds and traffic. The highlight of our trip was taking a tour (we used Back Country Safari Tours) to see the wild Mustangs in the Currituck National Wildlife Refuge. The (bumpy) ride on the beach was all part of the fun! We regretted not having more time to spend at the North Carolina Aquarium, which had super exhibits and a lovely location, or a chance to explore the Manteo waterfront, but we did get in a couple of other tourist spots, including Bodie lighthouse and Jeannette’s Pier. We travelled to Corolla from the south, through Okracoke, which allowed us to see the entirely of the Outer Banks (and enjoy the out-of-this-world tacos from the Eduardos taco truck), but be warned that it takes a lot of patience to deal with two ferry rides, one of which is first come, first served. Kat and Nick were wonderful exchange partners who went out of their way to make sure we arrived and gained entrance and were responsive to all of our questions. Our host's home was perfect in every way: large, outdoor area for relaxing and eating, clean and spacious indoors, and equipped with everything we needed. Barrie communicated often to make sure we were comfortable and all our questions were answered. From our home base in Boynton Beach, there were plenty of things to see in do, including beaches, bike paths, and nature trails in nearby West Palm Beach and Delray Beach.
