Neighbourhood
Our home is located in a bird sanctuary. The views over the lake are lovely, especially at sunset.
Nearest airport
Montreal Trudeau International Airport - 97 kilometers - approximately 1 hour
Burlington International Airport, Burlington, Vermont, USA - 72 kilometers - about 50 minutes
Getting around
Having a car is essential. The closest Canadian town is Bedford, about 13 miles away. Bedford has a grocery store, several restaurants, bakeries, a couple of new cafes, and shopping. It has a charming Canadian small-town feeling.

What a perfect vacation in a gorgeous location. The view from the large living room window, right out to Lake Champlain, makes it very, very tempting to just be still, snuggle up under a cozy blanket, and relax…which is exactly what we did several days! On other days, we ventured out to surrounding areas in Quebec and Vermont - so quaint and especially beautiful with the foliage.
We had the best sleep - crisp night air, zero light pollution, and the most comfortable beds. I will miss the beds!!
Judith was a great communicator, during the exchange process and the exchange itself. She made it super easy and super inviting to return again (which we would like)!! Thank you!
Thank you Tamara. It was a pleasure to host you and Bill and we loved your enthusiasm. We look forward to our stay on St. Simon's Island and to meeting you in person.
This comfortable, well-appointed cottage located on Missisquoi Bay is in a beautiful wooded area close the Vermont border and Phillipsburg. We especially enjoyed the sunsets over the lake while having a glass of wine.
Also, enjoyed day trips to Venice-en-Que's beaches, the Eastern Townships' wine route and walking trails, as well as shopping in Burlington, Vermont.
We haven’t been there yet, but we look forward to a future exchange!
It was a pleasure organizing a simultaneous exchange with Judith. She's an excellent communicator and I appreciated the good care given to my condo in Stratford.
Judith and Tim were the perfect guests from start to finish. They had very good communication and gracious with a mishaps that occurred during the start of their visit. They left the house in perfect condition and even left food for us. I am so happy we connected. We would unconditionally recommend them for a house exchange and PLU friendship.
I forgot to mention that Judith and Tim babysat our dog, Jasper. He has a new aunt and uncle!
Great guests! Happy to have them anytime.
Judith and her party were absolutely great guests. They communicated effectively and left our house clean and as they found it. We highly recommend them as guests and were happy to have them visit our home.
Judith and Tim were the PERFECT home exchange guests. So kind and warm. We had great communication leading up to the exchange - and we stayed in close communication after i had an unexpected, out of the blue change. They were so kind and invited us to join them for a gig that Tim was performing in. We were so sorry that our schedules did not allow us to meet them there. They were easy going, warm and left the house spotless. We’d love to swap with them again and they are definitely highly recommended PLU swap partners 🌻
We loved hosting Judith and Tim at our house. They are very friendly and engaging with lots of energy. It is always a pleasure to have guests who get out and enjoy all that Switzerland has on offer and Judith and Tim definitely did this with gusto. I enjoyed a long walk through the vineyards with Judith. You will enjoy having this lovely couple as guests at your home.
Judith and Tim took good care of our house, they left it perfectly clean and tidy. They are really 2 lovely people, we highly recommend them as guests and hosts.
Judith and Tim took wonderful care of our home and cat. They also took good care of our car. We would highly recommend them as exchange partners.
Judith and Tim left our home in excellent condition. Our farm dog Lily and our plants were well cared for.
I met Tim briefly after the exchange and really enjoyed our chat.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for another exchange.
Judith and Time were perfect guests. Excellent communication about everything. I hope our paths will cross again!
Judith was a prompt and excellent communicator. This successful reciprocal exchange was the first People Like Us exchange for both of us. Every aspect of this exchange was top-notch, and the way we found our home was over the top. It might be possible that our home was cleaner when we returned than it was when we sparkled and shined in preparation for the guests. We have consistently enjoyed positive experiences with many years of home exchanges, and are delighted that our first PLU exchange was satisfactory in every way. We rate Judith and Tim as 5-star exchange partners and recommend them without reservation. If you get a chance to come to Cape Coral, you will find happiness in this home and satisfaction with these experienced hosts.
Tamara and Bill were such a pleasure to host. We loved their enthusiasm and how they embraced the whole experience. They were communicative throughout the process and were so gracious about doing a few extra close-up tasks. They left our home in excellent shape. We would be so happy to host them again any time.
We had a great experience hosting Konstantin and his family. Communication was clear and easy, and he very generously agreed to assist in securing some items indoors in advance of an oncoming hurricane. They provided for cleaning and asked for instructions when needed. We would be happy to host them again.
Julia and her friend Shirly took great care of our home and left it in excellent condition. They were a pleasure to host and we would not hesitate to do so again.
Julia's condo is a lovely third-floor unit overlooking the lovely Stratford park and the Stratford Tennis Club. We enjoyed time on the balcony just relaxing and soaking in the peace. Her home is spacious, well appointed, and we were totally comfortable there. We absolutely LOVE the location--not only right on the edge of the park along the Avon River but also just steps from the original Stratford Festival Theatre (the Festival has additional theaters in downtown Stratford). It is also within driving distance of Kitchener-waterloo, Toronto, and Niagara Falls. We would not hesitate to return.
We had a splendid time exploring New Mexico from the super comfortable and beautiful home of Rebecca and Larry. Having never spent any time in the American Southwest, we were thrilled to discover how much we liked it! There was plenty to do...lots of festivals, events, museums etc....and the scenery was dramatic and very beautiful. We also enjoyed just hanging out on the patio because the weather was perfect (not humid!), the neighborhood was so quiet, and the yard was so beautiful. We had the care of Chiquita, the cutest and sweetest kitty ever. Apart from a minor medical emergency, this was one of the best trips we've had and we would highly recommend New Mexico and Rebecca and Larry's house in particular.
Judy and Steve took excellent care of our home and went above and beyond in looking after it. Judy was quick to ask when any questions concerning its care arose. They were conscientious guests that we wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
We had a very pleasant experience staying at Judy and Steve's lovely condo. It is located right on the beach...a real plus for this walker. I took a long stroll in the surf every day. The pool and spa were much appreciated too! The neighbors were very friendly at the pool. The condo is located on the first floor...a big plus as we had the care of Jasper, the Rubin's sweet pups (and what a cuddler he is!) He also seems to be well known in the condo. We enjoyed exploring the area and particularly appreciated the festivals (seafood and arts) and the impressive farmer's market downtown. But the location was so lovely we didn't feel we needed to be out every day. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this kind and generous couple as exchange partners.
We are just home from a 10-day trip to Marcella and Mike’s home in Atenas and ruminating on what a great experience it was! The home was so comfortable and the view so compelling we were happy to do some “slow travel” for a change. We took advantage of some of Marcella’s excellent suggestions of places to visit—the Choco-Tour San Mateo was particularly delightful, as was the Crema y Nata bakery downtown. We enjoyed a “language respite” (and the food) one lunchtime at the Polish European Restaurant as it’s known to be an English-speaking restaurant and none of the three of us have much Spanish. We rented a car and drove ourselves around—driving in Costa Rica is an adventure in itself!--but found we had to forgo the turtle hatching tours and some other highlights because we were not brave enough to drive after dark. This was our first trip to Costa Rica; we felt we were able to embrace and appreciate the country fully, and Marcella welcomed us warmly and made sure we had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Marcella is an excellent host, and we highly recommend this couple as exchange partners.
Thank you for the complimentary review. We appreciate that you were wonderful guests as well. The house was left nice and clean and it means a lot to us to have respectful guests.
This exchange turned out to not be simultaneous due to their purchase of a house during this time. We hope we can host Megan and Nichole in the future.
Tim and I had a great couple of weeks being hosted by Megan and her partner Nichole at their lovely apartment in the center of Northampton. It was just a very short walk to downtown and the shops and restaurants--and the farmer's market, which I enjoyed. It was centrally located for all we wanted to do in the Valley. Megan and Nichole went out of their way to accommodate our stay in spite of significant changes in their own plans (like buying a house!), which we really appreciated as we had plans with family and friends lined up before our arrival. They are both lovely, kind people who have already invited us to their house, and we really enjoyed meeting them--a benefit of home exchange that we don't always manage to get. We look forward to continuing our relationship with them and highly recommend them as exchange partners.
Zhaklin and family were great guests to host. Communication with Zhaklin before and during the exchange was excellent. They happily completed a few task upon check out that we requested and sent photos for our peace of mind. Unfortunately we did not get to meet them.
Dejah and David warmly welcomed us to their home and went above and beyond in picking us up from the train station and stopping at the grocery store on the way home. Dejah gave us an orientation to the town and lots of helpful direction in using the bus and trains. Their home in in a lovely setting on a quiet street with a large yard. One of the joys of our stay was daily walks through the neighborhoods and vineyards and along the creek that runs along the property. The apartment was modern, clean, and comfortable and well appointed with everything we needed. Our stay in the Montreux Riviera with it's astounding beauty was so enjoyable it was hard to leave. It was a top notch exchange, due in no small part to our lovely hosts.
Virginie & François and their daughters were excellent guests in our home. We arrived home to find everything clean and well cared for and they even left us a lovely gift as a memento of our time in Alsace. We would welcome them back and recommend them to others as exchange partners.
We spent two lovely weeks at the home of Virginie and Francois in Wiwersheim. Strasbourg had not been on our radar, but we were so pleased they proposed this exchange when we began to experience Strasbourg and its surroundings. It was a perfect blend of country and city. Taking the tram into Strasbourg is so easy, quick, and inexpensive that it’s feasible to go in even for half days. Strasbourg is a city worth exploring—such beauty and liveliness and historical significance. We enjoyed both the boat tour and the train tour as well as exploring on our own two feet.
We also enjoyed the countryside—by walking and by driving to the plentiful nearby villages, each of which has its own eye-candy patisseries full of savory and sweet delights. We decided there is no need to cook in France. We dined out but were just as happy to bring our treats home.
Virginie and Francois’ home is well appointed and comfortable and had everything we needed. They are gracious, responsible, and generous exchange partners who made our stay entirely comfortable. We highly recommend an exchange with them.
Liza and Darrel and family were a pleasure to host! They took great care of our home and were very respectful of everything in it. Liza was great at communicating about arrival and departure and all details in advance of arrival. This is a lovely family we'd be happy to host again.
We came home from our simultaneous exchange with Erika and Luke to find everything in good order. We exchanged cars as well and had no incident or problems.
Erika and Luke's home is large, attractive, and very comfortable. We had more than enough space to cook, relax, and work remotely. I loved sitting on the front porch in the evening after a day out sightseeing to watch the sun set (and pick some fresh blueberries off the bush!). We found it to be a very convenient base from which to explore Vancouver and beyond, including downtown (via the Skyrail, very convenient), Granville Island, Grouse Mountain, Squamish, Whistler, and Fort Langley. The tenant in the basement was never seen and never heard. Roxi, the cat with whom we shared the house, was almost never seen but warmed up to us eventually. We swapped cars as well as homes and we found that to be very convenient. Their car was left for us at the airport by previous exchangers, and we were able to pick up Erika and family at the airport upon their return and thereby get to meet them. If you have never visited British Columbia, it should be on your wish list, and Erika and Luke's home is a great choice.
We spent a lovely week at Liza and Darrell's beautiful hobby farm in the heart of Southwestern Ontario. When we arrived, we had a very warm welcome from Lily, the resident sweet-tempered golden retriever. This home is perfectly located in an area that is so beautiful--prosperous farms and fields as far as the eye can see. It is also close to a few tourist towns; we had a lovely afternoon exploring the Elora Gorge and the cute shops and restaurants in downtown Elora. Communication with Liza was clear and easy throughout the whole exchange process. We found the home to be very comfortable, and we enjoyed the beautiful pool and deck area. Liza and Darrell are great hosts: do not hesitate to contact them if you are interested in exploring this beautiful area of Canada.
Thanks so much Judith and Tim. We're glad you could enjoy our home and you took great care too. We do love it here.
It was a pleasure to host Sara in our home. Communication was clear and easy throughout the exchange. We regret that we did not get to meet Sara. We have not been back to our home since her checkout, but we have every confidence she left things in good order.
We had a fabulous time visiting the Outer Banks and staying at Kat and Nick’s lovely home. We loved the fact that we could walk to the beach that was just a few houses down, at the end of the street. The beach was beautiful, and the sound of the ocean carried over the dunes and was fully enjoyed during hours lounging on the upper deck of the house. While the weather was too cool for swimming, we really appreciated visiting during the shoulder season (early May) allowing us to miss the crowds and traffic. The highlight of our trip was taking a tour (we used Back Country Safari Tours) to see the wild Mustangs in the Currituck National Wildlife Refuge. The (bumpy) ride on the beach was all part of the fun! We regretted not having more time to spend at the North Carolina Aquarium, which had super exhibits and a lovely location, or a chance to explore the Manteo waterfront, but we did get in a couple of other tourist spots, including Bodie lighthouse and Jeannette’s Pier. We travelled to Corolla from the south, through Okracoke, which allowed us to see the entirely of the Outer Banks (and enjoy the out-of-this-world tacos from the Eduardos taco truck), but be warned that it takes a lot of patience to deal with two ferry rides, one of which is first come, first served. Kat and Nick were wonderful exchange partners who went out of their way to make sure we arrived and gained entrance and were responsive to all of our questions. A first-class exchange that I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit the Outer Banks.
Thank you guys for the kind words! We are so glad you had a great experience at our home!
We were delighted to be able to host Kat and Nick in our Cape Coral Home. They were enthused, friendly guests who communicated well and left our home in excellent shape. We are very much looking forward to our stay in their Outer Banks home. We would highly recommend Kat and Nick as exchange partners.
Our host's home was perfect in every way: large, outdoor area for relaxing and eating, clean and spacious indoors, and equipped with everything we needed. Barrie communicated often to make sure we were comfortable and all our questions were answered. From our home base in Boynton Beach, there were plenty of things to see in do, including beaches, bike paths, and nature trails in nearby West Palm Beach and Delray Beach.
Barrie and her fellow traveler (her mom, Bit) took great care of our home, and we found it to be in excellent shape when we returned. Communication was easy and clear throughout our exchange, and Barrie provided detailed notes and instructions in advance for us to use in preparing for our trip. We could not have been happier with our exchange, and we highly recommend Barrie as an exchange partner.
