Neighbourhood

If you're looking for sunshine, warmth, tranquility, and great beaches, there is no better place than Cape Coral, Florida. Our city has been ranked in the top 10 cities to live in Florida and in the top 10 cities nationally to retire. There are extensive areas in which to kayak, and many nature preserves that will provide a close-up experience with Florida's natural wildlife. There are many excellent bike paths in the region. Our single-level home is located in a quiet neighborhood only 4 miles from the Cape Coral beach. Sanibel / Captiva and Fort Myers Beach are a short drive (13 miles). Cape Coral is just across the Caloosahatchee River from Ft Myers, putting the Edison/Ford Estates and many other tourist attractions within easy reach. The region is served by the Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, only 17 miles from our home. Cape Coral is becoming known as the hot spot for great restaurants. Many new restaurants have opened downtown that span the gamut from casual to upscale. A favorite hangout is The Boathouse at the Cape Coral beach. Outdoor dining is the norm, and many restaurants offer live music with musicians doing original music and well known songs.

Ft. Myers Airport - international airport - 17 miles Punta Gorda Airport - excellent regional airport - 26 miles Miami or Ft. Lauderdale international airports - approx 2.5 hours

Getting Around

It is most helpful to have a car. For mutual exchanges, a car exchange is negotiable. If you're flying into Orlando, consider picking up a free Visitor Toll Pass at the airport (visitortollpass.com). There are very few opportunities to pay tolls with cash in Florida. EZPass transponders work for most tolls in Florida. Otherwise, check with your car rental company, or consider signing up for your own SunPass account (SunPass.com).
