General overview

Come and visit our little Nest and explore our region. Close to town and beach, and walking tracks. Take day trips to iconic tourist locations Mount Cook, Lake Tekapo or Southern Lakes as accommodation is expensive in those areas but it's very accessible from here. It is an upstairs self-contained studio apartment with queen size bed and lovely rural views. Studio is attached to our main house but with separate entrance. See main house photos for local views.

The space

Spacious semi open plan apartment with kitchenette, dining space, lounge and bedroom. Bathroom with shower, toilet and laundry facilities. Often referred to as "The Nest" as it looks out across the garden and fields and into the surrounding trees. A very restful place to sit and watch the natural world. Great space for a couple but there is also a fold down couch which makes an extra double bed. Option is available to add another adjoining bedroom to the space (2 single beds) if required. If you need more beds check out our main house listing (it sleeps 7).

Guest access

The Nest is up a set of external stairs.

Notes

Everyone who stays here says how peaceful it is. There is a cook top and an air fryer for use if you need more than a microwave...or eat out at one of Timaru's cafes and restaurants. - there's plenty to choose from.

Neighbourhood

Our small farm is just south of Timaru (5 minutes drive) on the east coast of the beautiful South Island, New Zealand. Timaru is often called the Bay City. It is a quiet coastal city with attractive Edwardian architecture, and a safe beach called Caroline Bay. Lots of nice cafes, local historic sites and penguin watching. It's an ideal base to explore inland and around the coast of the central South Island. There are several tracks close to our home to explore the coast, bush and hills. either walking or biking. It is 10-15 minutes bike ride to beach tracks, wetland bird reserve, or inland to extensive tracks in Timaru Scenic Reserve. We often walk to these tracks from home. Photos shared are from those walks. Take a look at the ones closest to us: This is the Jacks Point Walk https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2104474686302911 This is Centennial Park Scenic Reserve: https://youtu.be/kYjgqHMiJkY?si=9BnrHm5c8IscAyC7 Lots of lovely places to explore locally and slightly further afield, many for free.
