General overview
We have a beautiful, new-construction home with a porch, back deck, great back yard, and friendly neighbors. We're across the street from an urban farm that hosts weekly picnic/music events during the summer. Yet we're only half a block to downtown Silver Spring and the Metro (red line, 20 min ride to Union Station and downtown Washington DC). 3 min walk to Whole Foods. Two different parks/playgrounds within 5 min walk. And in the middle of the largest Ethiopian community in the DC area which means fantastic Ethiopian food (among other great food options.) Did I mention the El Salvadoran taco/pupusa truck at the gas station on the corner?
The space
We've got a great house in a great neighborhood. Lots of friendly, open-minded, internationally-oriented people with porches who like to be outside and walk (rather than drive) when they can. We've also got super great and helpful neighbors on both sides and across the street.
Our front yard is nice, but the backyard is really great for hanging out, playing sports, having a cookout, roasting marshmallows in a fire pit, or just relaxing.
Guest access
The house has 4 floors. Basement (1 BR with a queen-size bed; 1 sleeper sofa); 1st floor (kitchen, living room - open plan with secret door to the basement); 2nd floor (1 master bed/bath; 2 additional bedrooms) 3rd floor (loft space bedroom)

Stephen
Family of 5 (2 girls 14 & 10, 1 boy 7). Have never done a home exchange before. My wife and I love traveling and have lived abroad pre-kids. Our kids are a little reluctant about new countries but we're slowly breaking them in. I'm a legal English professor at a US law school and teach students from all over the world. My wife is a long-time primary school educator. Did I mention I love playing ultimate frisbee?
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
