Neighbourhood
Klosterneuburg is located directly at the northern border of the capital Vienna in a beautiful green hillside landscape. You can reach the city-center of Vienna by car (20 minutes) or by bus/train (30 minutes).
Our house is located on a hill, therefore you can enjoy stunning views, overlooking the surrounding nature, the famous Monastery of Klosterneuburg, and even parts of close Vienna.
Klosterneuburg is a small historic town at the northern border of Vienna, with a pittoresque city hall, a farmers market on the village square, a Christmas market in december etc. It's situated directly at the river Danube banks, where you can go for swimming, boat trips, etc. In the green nature of the sourrounding hills (famous viennese woods) we go for hiking or for tours with our mountainbikes.
The region is also well known for the beautiful wineyards, and you can enjoy the local wines at the typical 'Heurige'. These are little taverns, where the winemakers serve their products on plain tables, sometimes directly in the wineyard.
In about 20 minutes you reach pulsating city of Vienna, where you find tons of historic places like St. Stephen's Cathedral, Schönbrunn Castle, a lot of museums, famous viennese opera, shopping malls, nightlife, restaurants, bars etc.
The climate is continental, so you find warm summers (june-august) and snowy winters (dec-feb). In springtime everything is growing and in flower, and in autumn the leaves gloom in different shades of red and yellow. Take a look at the pictures, each season is full of charm.
If you want to make a trip, following destinations are easily accessible by train or car:
Lake Neusiedl (45 min drive) for sailing
Semmering (1 hour drive) for skiing
Wachau/Dürnstein (1 hour drive) idyllic wineyards & castle
Bratislava (1 hour drive) nice town in Slovakia, you can go there by boat on Danube
If you wan to make trips for 2-3 days, we recommend for example:
Salzburg (2,5 hours drive) beautiful hitoric city, lakes, mountains, skiing
Prague (4 hours drive), Czech Republic
Budapest (3 hours drive), Hungary
Venice (5-6 hours drive), Italy
Croatian coast & islands (5-6 hours drive)
Nearest airport
Vienna International Airport (40min by car)
Getting around
Our home is accessible with public transport, but we would recommend to rent a car at the airport, it is more convenient by car.
We have bikes which can be used by our guests.
