General Overview
Quebec City is a beautiful city, and we believe that our apartment, ideal for 2, 3 or 4 people, will be a great resting point for your stay!
Day 1: Take the classic tourist tour of Old Quebec: walk Grande-Allée, visit the entrance hall of the Château Frontenac. Eat ice cream while browsing the Dufferin Terrace. Stroll through the Quartier Petit-Champlain, then stop for lunch in the middle of the afternoon at the Buffet de l'Antiquaire on St-Paul Street.
Day 2: Visit the Saint-Jean-Baptiste district: walk on St-Jean Street. The gay bar Le Drague offers memorable drag queen brunches, the clothing boutiques and hair salons are unique and very welcoming. Finish with the long walk on the Plains of Abraham, filled with history.
Day 3: Saint-Sauveur is an economic district: take advantage of it! Choose the Brunch plate at Restaurant au Passant ($14). Shop around the second-hand clothes at the Service d'Entraide Basse-Ville (between $1 and $6 per piece of clothing). Order at La Poutinerie as a take-out, and picnic at Dollard-des-Ormeaux Park while watching sand volleyball matches!
Day 4: See life in green! Various parks and gardens are worth a visit: the Domaine Maizerets, the Parc du Bois-de-Coulonge, the Parliament Gardens, the Domaine Cataraqui... Finish with a swim in one of the city's many public (and all free!) pools. In particular, the Samuel de Champlain Parkway Pool was inaugurated in 2023 and offers the look of an infinity pool with the river in front!
Day 5: Be connected: walk the Limoilou district. The whole of the third avenue is great: the Babeurre and Le Cendrillon restaurants, the delicatessen La Réserve, the Article 721 boutique... Finish with a long walk around the Saint-Charles River and Anse-à-Cartier Park!
1-2 hours by car
Day 6 to 8: Explore Charlevoix! Baie St-Paul is very pleasant to walk, and filled with nice shops for visitors. Some villages are particularly remarkable: Les Éboulements, Saint-Irénée... We stop for a snack and for the view! Domaine Forget or Auberge des Aïeux are reliable low-cost accommodation options. La Malbaie is the second largest city.
3-5 hours by car
Day 9 to 10: After Charlevoix, head to the North Shore for the great landscapes and the proximity of the sea! Tadoussac and Baie-Comeau are must-see stops. Camping Mer et Monde, in camping or glamping formula, offers the Grandes Bergeronnes a breathtaking accommodation option!
CAMPING KIT: We have a camping kit! With a tent for two, two self-inflating groundsheets, two retro sleeping bags (for summer camping), everything you need for cooking, and all the useful accessories, you won't miss ANYTHING if you feel like getting out of the city and choosing the outdoors!
The Space
TELECOMMUTING: We have a height-adjustable desk (standing or sitting) with 2 monitors and an ergonomic chair. Wi-Fi is high-speed and unlimited.
CAT: Our cat Colonel is a very gentle 8-year-old Himalayan who loves human presence, likes petting and sometimes likes to play. It sleeps at night, does not meow often, and eats wet food. Depending on the context and your planned presence, we may leave him at the apartment or take him elsewhere to cat-sitting.
KITCHEN: Oven, microwave, air fryer, filter coffee maker, electric coffee grinder, dishwasher and freezer are at your disposal! The washing machine and electric dryer work very well.
LIVING ROOM: The sofa is comfortable and can be used as an extra bed. There is a Bluetooth soundbar for watching music and movies and a smart TV.
GARDEN: The large garden in front of the apartment is ours: you are invited to pick vegetables and flowers as much as you want from July to October!
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS: We have a musical keyboard and an acoustic guitar. Depending on the context, we might be open to including it in the exchange. If this is the case, the neighbours are used to the low noise of the latter: just play for acceptable hours.
Guest Access
We are on the ground floor and the apartment is on two floors (including the basement). There is no elevator.
Notes
What we are looking for as an exchange:
We aim for trades between ten days and 3 weeks, as much as possible simultaneous, but we could discuss a Globe or a non-simultaneous trade if conditions allow.
Our favorite places would be destinations less than ten hours away by plane, avoiding heat waves. So trips in spring, fall or even winter are quite ideal for us! The big cities and mountains have our hearts... Tropical destinations and beach towns are a little less our thing!
Want to enjoy the following events?
in July - Festival d'été de Québec (the largest outdoor music event in Canada),
in June - Carrefour international de théâtre,
in January - Quebec Winter Carnival
Let us know! We would love to let you enjoy our advantageous location! Since we don't participate much in crowds, we can easily leave the city at these times.

Neighbourhood
The Saint-Sauveur neighbourhood is extremely well located: it is in the centre of the Montcalm, Old Quebec, Limoilou, Saint-Roch and Ste-Foy districts. It's really easy to get anywhere there's action! As for the neighborhood itself, it is quite quiet and diverse. There are seniors, families, people living alone, students, in short, everything! We feel safe there. It's easy to park on the street, and we even have our own parking lot! The courtyards are rather indoor, which gives the impression of a rather grey neighbourhood, but the houses are nicely decorated with flower beds. We are also fortunate to have very few AirBnBs in the sector. Your neighbours will be the ones who have been there for a long time!
Our apartment is two blocks from Charest Boulevard, which runs through the city. It's very accessible, but also quiet enough and quiet enough to sleep well.
Getting to my home
Our apartment is a 15-minute drive from Quebec City's Jean-Lesage Airport. You can take the bus (every 30 minutes) for $3.75 or a taxi for $41.50.
You could also arrive by train or bus in downtown Quebec City. The stop sign is called Gare du Palais. We are 7 minutes by car/taxi or 12 minutes by bus (stops very close to the train station and our home).
Nearest airport
Jean-Lesage Airport is 13 km from us, 18 minutes by car/taxi or 55 minutes by public transit. For preferential rates, many people take their flight to Montreal. From Montreal's Trudeau Airport, you can take the Orléans Express bus to Quebec City, for $86. As this bus passes on Charest, it passes right next to our house... I'll share with you a little tip: if you don't have luggage in the hold of the bus, you can ask the driver to drop you off just after Marie de l'Incarnation Street. This is one of the two stops that Orléans Express makes at the request of passengers! Enjoy!!!
Getting Around
BUS: The application to download is RTC Nomade. We are very close to routes 802, 19, 18 and 1. We are within reasonable distance also of frequent 800, 801 and 807 rides. A single trip costs $3.40,
or $9.25 for the whole day
or $32.50 for 5 consecutive days
or $61 for 20 tickets (prices in July 2023).
TAXI: The app to download is Taxi Coop.
BIKE: We have a summer bike that can be included in the stay. Quebec City has a fully electric bike rental system, with a station two blocks away. Traditional bicycles can also be rented from nearby shops.
CAR: We have a 2017 KIA Forte and a sticker for street parking. Depending on the context, we might be open to including it in a simultaneous exchange. The application to download to pay for parking when paid (e.g. Old Quebec) is Copilote.

Marjorie
Vincent (M-39) works as an animator in video games, working remotely. Marjorie (F-38) is a production makeup artist and hairstylist who had extensive CouchSurfing experience (both as a host and as a traveler) in her twenties. We respect the spaces we stay in and love cats!
As a pale redhead who easily gets sunburned, Vincent avoids the beaches! Instead, we're looking for bustling cities that are easy to navigate, showcasing exceptional architecture, history, and food! We have no children, just a cat.
