Neighbourhood
Signal Mountain, TN is touted as one of the safest towns in the state. It is a very family friendly town for outdoorsy folks, and has attracted newcomers from all across the country in recent years due to its proximity to Chattanooga's amenities and excellent schools.
There are numerous hiking and biking trails up on the ridge- all within a 5-10 minute drive. The mountain will also soon be home to a new 200 acre mountain biking, trail running/hiking, and bouldering site- Walden's Ridge Park.
Our community has monthly bluegrass performances at the Mountain Opry, a vendor and arts market at the Mountain Arts Community Center, and all sorts of fun local treasures to explore like the Pumpkin Patch playground for children and McCoy Farm and Gardens.
Greater Chattanooga has all of the amenities of a mid-sized city, lots of attractions, and the friendliest people with the best BBQ around. Southern BBQ that is, which refers to smoked pulled pork, covered in a molasses/ketchup based barbecue sauce and preferably served on a bun with coleslaw. Rock City, the Tennessee Aquarium, The Incline Railway, and Ruby Falls are all popular tourist attractions in the area.
Our vacation house is on a quiet street with friendly neighbors, but people mostly keep to themselves. There are many curvy and steep roads but people bike and walk/run on the roads in the area, so be aware and drive carefully.
Getting to my home
Our home is a 30 minute drive from the Chattanooga Airport. We are located 1.5 hours from Knoxville, TN, 2.5 hours to Smokey Mountain National Park, 2 hours from Atlanta, GA, and 2 hours from Nashville, TN.
You will need a car to get around and access local shopping and restaurants. You can easily get an Uber or Lyft from the airport- but not always into town.
Nearest airport
Chattanooga Airport (CHA - Chattanooga Lovell Field Airport)
Getting around
Guests will need a car to get around the area. Chattanooga is a very easy city to drive in with plenty of street parking and garages and minimal traffic. There are rentals in the area- mostly near the airport.
Once you are in downtown Chattanooga, there is a free shuttle that runs every 15 minutes from the Chattanooga Choo Choo to the TN Aquarium with stops in between. An extended bus system is available for a small faire- visit gocarta.org for more info on routes and fees.
