Our little 1948 cottage is a sweet and cozy getaway in historic Coloma just a short walk from the shores of the American River and Marshall Gold Discovery State Park - where California's Gold Rush began! It's within walking distance of an excellent Farm to Fork cafe, the state park, and several hiking trails. Additional hiking and mountain biking trails are just a short drive away. Home to California's biggest whitewater rafting hub, there are plenty of options for kayaking and rafting adventures!
The Space
The house is on a shared property, with private front, side, and fenced portion of the back yard, as well as larger shared yard space surrounded by natural treed landscape. The house has quaint original features such as pine floors, and is furnished with eclectic antiques. There is central heating and air conditioning, internet (though somewhat spotty) and internet-based Roku TV. No dishwasher. On one of the few residential roads in the area, there are friendly neighbors and lots of deer and other wildlife. This peaceful little village is home to wonderful live music venues in the summer, so there are options to enjoy the social scene, meet the friendly locals, and retreat back to your quiet oasis. While there are a few shops and restaurants down in the river valley, a car is necessary for getting to town for groceries and other essentials. A 4-door '98 standard-transmission diesel VW Jetta is available with this exchange for that purpose. This house is a second home, so there is plenty closet, drawer, and cabinet space for your belongings. And a trunk full of well-loved children's toys for your enjoyment :-)
Guest Access
The house is one story with no stairs inside, but there is one step to enter the house. It sits on a dirt road with a gravel driveway not easily accessible for wheelchairs.
