General overview
So much to do in the picturesque country town with everything you will need on your doorstep.
Summer & Spring - it is stunning with trees and mountains surrounding the town. An abundance of outstanding trails for hiking or biking. We have fabulous outdoor pool within a 5 min bike ride from our house. Beaches galore less than an hour away for you to take your pick from and Sydney is only an hour and half so you can spend a day there easily!
We are famous for our 'Tulip Time' festival and people come from far and wide to wonder at it, and we can walk to it from our home!! There are beautiful botanic gardens within walking distance
Literally stones throw from our front door are tennis courts and many playgrounds for kids to enjoy.
Autumn & Winter - We are THE BEST town in Australia to visit during these times as we have such an english charm and all the beautiful autumn leaves and colours make this place look magical!
Family Fun
Illawara Treetops is spectacular and you can get your adventure on with mile high tightrope walks!
Skate park a stonesthrow from our home
Indoor and outdoor pools
Indoor bowling in the next suburb over
Cinema in town just 15 minutes walk or 5 minute bike ride
Jamberoo Water Park is amazing for all the family and we often spend the whole day there most summer weekends
We are 4 hours drive from snow fields so we often go skiing just for a weekend!!
Canberra is only a 2 hour drive and this is a MUST do if you visit our place. So much to do and see in our country’s capital!
We live in a gorgeous town called Bowral in the Southern Highlands of NSW. 1.5 hours from Sydney airport, an hour away from the south coast (Kiama, Gerrigong and Wollongong to name a few beach towns) around 3 hours from ACT, and Canberra.
It’s on a battle axe block at the back so super private.
It’s a great place for families to stay and we welcome your pets too! Only the back garden is fenced though!
The space
Our home is a beautiful mix of weatherboard cottage and architecturally designed modern additions including an upstairs “grown ups retreat”
It’s a 4 bed, 2 bath home with lots of light and big windows. The house has a cute weatherboard cottage look and the front part of the house is all original features. As you enter, there is a little hallway with stained wooden floorboards and 3 bedrooms and a newly renovated bathroom (with shower and bath) leading off it.
Then you walk into the main living space which is a really large open space with fully fitted and newly renovated kitchen with breakfast bar.
Then the lounge area with a large king furniture sofa that can sit 4 people when lounging and more if sitting. It’s designed to be slept on too if you need extra bed space!
We have a gorgeous dining “nook” that my husband (the builder of the renovations) built a bench seat that wraps all around the 2 sides of the square dining table and has views out to the front yard and the back garden.
There are a couple of arm chairs set up near the large double window doors leading to the garden next to a study nook with a desk (big enough for 2) and all of that is open plan (so we can keep an eye on the kids when they are on computers!
Then it is upstairs to the newly built “parents retreat” which is a huge main bedroom, walk in wardrobe and bathroom with shower and bathtub. The views from our bedroom are spectacular. We have a window seat with my beloved plants on it and you can look out at the reserve that backs on to our back garden. It is really quiet out there and mainly just a couple of dog walkers each day.
The view from the other window, which is the entire length of the wall, is looking on to our neighbours and in the distance, Mount Gibraltar.
We love the privacy and space (our kids are 8 and 11) but if you have smaller kids, or indeed, don’t like being that far from your kids, whatever their ages. You may choose to configure the sleeping arrangements differently.
I’m terms of the outside of our home…The drive way still needs to be updated and is a bit bumpy and gravely. It has space for 2 cars at least. We have a little front deck With fair lights and a comfy sofa (full disclosure- it needs a good paint!)
We have multiple fruit trees (including an orange tree, olive trees, crab apples and lemonade trees) and a cute front garden and back garden (although still heaps of landscaping to be done after renovations have wrecked the lawns a bit)
Our back garden is a bit chaotic at the moment, with an overgrown veggie patch that I keep promising myself I will devote time too. It does have some bonuses, it has a big play gym with a small basketball hoop and ball, a jumbee swing, a skateboard swing and monkey bars (hold 80kg) and it backs on to a spectacular and quite nature reserve.
The back garden is secure for pets but not the front garden
Guest access
There are 4 stairs up to the front door and there are 18 stairs leading to the upstairs section
Notes
We are keen to explore options for long term swaps as we are considering taking a year out to travel and homeschool the kids. Open to anywhere in the world although we are not bilingual so ideally, English speaking places

Neighbourhood
Bowral is so pretty and we have such a pretty neighbourhood with a central attraction being a lovely little cricket ground named after Sir Donald Bradman, as he was born and bred in Bowral and a park for the kids. both are just minutes walk from our home.
It is the perfect mix of country town but it is the heart of the Southern Highlands region so we have lots of great shops, award winning restaurants and cute cocktail bars and coffee shops, outdoor pool is a 10 mon bike ride and 20 minute walk and 5 min drive, and indoor pools are around 10 minutes drive.
Minutes from our home there are:
Skate Park
Tennis Courts
Coffee Shops
Swimming Pools
Many bars and restaurants
Vineyards
Indoor Bowling Alley
Cinema
There are stunning hiking and mountain bike riding trails surrounding us.
You can walk into town from our home in just under 20 minutes.
Getting to my home
