If you're looking for an intensely immersive cultural experience in the midst of a beautiful setting, try the city of Barva, just two kilometers from Heredia and nestled between the mountainous slopes of extinct volcanoes. In Barva you will discover food, traditions, culture and language that will stimulate your senses and leave an unforgettable impression of the richness and variety of Costa Rica.
Although Barva was occupied long before the arrival of Spain, 1561 saw its formal establishment as a village. Barva is populated by classic adobe houses, their walls are low and thick, and their roofs are a beautiful deep red. These houses are organized around the main attraction of the central park, which contains statues donated by artists from all over the country, and the beautiful white stucco church nearby. Study the Baroque church-influenced style to learn about Costa Rica's architectural history, or simply tour the national monuments to understand why this city has become a protected site with many buildings preserved by the Costa Rican government.
Barva rests perched on the edge of Volcán Barva and in the vicinity of Volcán Poás, joining many other towns that make the lush green slopes their home. The rich volcanic soil makes the Central Valley a thriving haven for local vegetation and crops. The richness of the soil also attracts flourishing wildlife, and any eco-tourist or nature lover will be able to enjoy views of the verdant flora and fauna in and around Barva.

We are a laid back couple who love to travel and our jobs usually allow us to do it with great frequency and ease. Our daughters Veronica 22 and Adriana 19 don't accompany us as often on our adventures anymore due to their own responsibilities. Hairo is a systems engineer and works on Internet projects as a freelance. I dedicate myself to Special Events.
I am allergic to cats so it is impossible for me to stay where they live.
Our Condominium is a secondary home and also an investment that we use in a few months as a source of rent.
We usually travel alone but sometimes we hope to do it with our daughters or a couple of friends.
