Neighbourhood

My home sits just a block above Lake Flower in the Helen Hill historic district. Across the street is an historic hotel that was later a convent and now a B & B. Though my yard is small, the house is quite private and my neighbors friendly. Just across the street is access through the picturesque cemetery to the new rail-to-trail path. Then a five-minute walk around Moody Pond leads to Mt. Baker, a popular 2-mile hike with an expansive view. of lakes and mountains. In my neighborhood are a convenience store, deli, bank, boat livery, 3 churches, riverside park, hotel, restaurant, the community college and boat launch.

Nearest airport

The small local airport (SLK), just 12 mi from my house, flies to JFK in NYC and 3x daily to/from Boston on small planes. Other airports 2 hours away: Albany (ALB); Burlington (BTV) and Montreal (YUL). NY City is a 5-hour drive. You could rent a car and drive up or there's a bus from ALB to my neighborhood each afternoon.

Getting around

The entire village is less than 2 miles wide, so downtown is a quick walk along the lake. Bicycle rentals are available; beware that we have 4 big hills in the village, so it's a workout. There are few public transportation options, so you'll likely want a car.

Susan

Retired photojournalist who enjoys the outdoors, adventure, culture and travel. I love to scuba dive, cycle, hike, kayak and sail. But I'm also keen on exploring both natural & urban destinations with my camera. My last big adventure was six weeks in Australia, NZ & Bali. I'm itching to travel, though I've been fortunate to live in such a beautiful place to ride out the pandemic. I'm a neatnik & rather handy around the house, so I promise your home will be in good hands with me!
