Neighbourhood

Our home is at the heart of the Jordaan, the trendy neighbourhood with canals, small streets and squares with many creative shops, hip eateries and cozy pubs. The area is filled with history. It is a 10 minute walk to the Anne Frank House. The popular Noordermarkt and Lindegracht markets on Saturdays and Mondays are around the corner. It is at the centre of the city but still feels like a neighbourhood. Just walk around and get a coffee or a drink in one of the cosy cafe's. We love to make walks in the city - any time of the day including the evening.

Nearest airport

Schiphol airport is 20 km away. Arriving via Schiphol - take the train to Amsterdam CS - less than 20 minutes and 5 trains/hours.

Getting around

For the city: bring good shoes and walk, walk, walk. Public transport - bus stop at a 5 min walk. Central Station with all trams and busses is at a 10 min walk. There are 2 bikes available, bike rentals are close by. For nature trips take the bike and the ferry (for free) to Amsterdam Noord - and enjoy the nature and the picturesque villages like Durgerdam or Marken. Or take the bike path behind Westerpark.

Lizette & Arnold

Arnold and I returned in 2020 to The Netherlands and settled in Amsterdam after 28 years of international service at the United Nations and at international schools. We lived in multiple countries and when living in NY we did many exchanges on another platform. We are now looking forward to share our lovely Amsterdam home with others through PLU. We usually travel together and occasionally one of our adult sons may like to join us for a few days. We are excited about living in our quiet apartment at the heart of Amsterdam. We love travelling and meeting people from different countries and cultures.

"Ireland is for long on our wish list, to learn more about the country and enjoy its nature. We are looking for 2 exch of 1-2 weeks each from mid-Aug to mid-Sept. We can do simultaneous or non-simultaneous (June 6 to July 6 our home is free too)."
