Lovely apartment in the historic centre of Amsterdam, newly built four years ago. Our place is at the heart of the Jordaan, the trendy neighbourhood where the narrow canals are flanked by creative shops, hip eateries and cozy pubs. A 10-minute walk to the Anne Frank House. The Saturday and Monday markets around the corner.
Der Raum
Our apartment is newly built by our brother in law on one of the last free spots in The Jordaan. The apartment is on the first floor, has 8 large floor-to-ceiling windows and an in-built balcony and is decorated with art and memories of our years living abroad in Africa, Asia and New York. The living and dining rooms are connected by the open kitchen. Next to the master bedroom we have a bed-sofa in the study. The study has a sliding door - so it can be used as an extra bedroom. Apart from our furniture and paintings, nearly everything is new.
Gastzugang
The building has 4 floors but is only shared with my sister and brother in law - who designed and built it all. The entrance is on the main floor where we also have a large storage room where we park our bikes and hang our coats. A lovely wooden staircase leads to our apartment but there is also a small elevator.
Anmerkungen
The apartment has floor heating and we have a pellet stove for winter evenings. Pellet stoves are CO2 neutral, easier to use than wood=burning stoves and low in emissions of particulates. Cooking is with induction.

Nachbarschaft
Our home is at the heart of the Jordaan, the trendy neighbourhood with canals, small streets and squares with many creative shops, hip eateries and cozy pubs. The area is filled with history. It is a 10 minute walk to the Anne Frank House. The popular Noordermarkt and Lindegracht markets on Saturdays and Mondays are around the corner. It is at the centre of the city but still feels like a neighbourhood. Just walk around and get a coffee or a drink in one of the cosy cafe's. We love to make walks in the city - any time of the day including the evening.

Lizette & Arnold
Arnold and I returned last year to The Netherlands and settled in Amsterdam after 28 years of international service at the United Nations and at international schools. When living in NY we did many exchanges - and we are now looking forward to share our lovely Amsterdam home with others.
We usually travel together and sometimes (at Christmas and sometimes in summer) our grown up sons and partners like to join us for a few days. We are excited about living in our quiet apartment at the heart of Amsterdam. We love travelling and meeting people from different countries and cultures.
