General overview
We are nestled between the bush and the beach and positioned at the start of the track to Cathedral Cove. Swim, kayak or walk from bottom of our garden. Enjoy beautiful ocean views from a deck chair or while making breakfast in the kitchen.
The beach house is situated on the quieter section of the beach, a short walk from the local shops and restaurant where live music cranks into late summer afternoons.
Our daughters have loved the trampoline, the tree platform in the majestic, old pohutukawa tree, the rope swings on the beach or making dams/bridges over the estuary.
This is a rental property. Availability depends on bookings.
UPDATE: The Cathedral Cove track is 'officially' closed at the moment. However it is possible to visit Cathedral Cove by boat or kayak. The walking track is expected to open by Dec 2024. See this website for further updates: https://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/coromandel/places/hahei-area/tracks/cathedral-cove-walk/
The space
From the road, you enter the house down a series of stairs under a canopy of trees. (It is not suitable for people who struggle with stairs.)
Our house is our holiday home and is very simple but it is in a wonderful location and worth the effort of the stairs. It has two separate levels, upstairs and downstairs, that are connected by exterior steps. Both spaces are self-contained with separate entrances.
Upstairs
This is the main living area with a kitchen, small bathroom, living area, one bedroom, conservatory and deck with a large outdoor table & BBQ.
Downstairs
Downstairs has been recently renovated and has a main living area, dining and kitchenette in an open plan space. There are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom off the central living space.
We have kayaks, body boards and spades for guest use.
Notes
Not suitable for people who struggle with stairs. Young children will need to be supervised on stairs, trampoline and deck.

Neighbourhood
We are a 5 min walk to the little Hahei village with a general store (dairy), cafe, restaurant, gift shop, along with a few other shops.
If you travel north of Hahei there is a small golf course and lovely beaches and walks, including Cooks beach and Flaxmill bay, until you reach Ferry Landing where a ferry will take you across the inlet to Whitianga. https://www.whitianga.co.nz/
Whitianga is a bigger town with lots more shops, supermarkets, restaurants, cinema, and a natural geo-thermal pool. https://www.thelostspring.co.nz/
To the south of Hahei is Hot Water Beach. Bring a spade to dig your own spa pool in the sand at low tide.

Getting to my home
Best way to get to our home is by car so you can explore the area around Hahei.
However there is an excellent shuttle that will pick up travellers from Auckland central city or Auckland airport and drops them off at the Hahei village shops (5 min walk away). https://www.go-kiwi.co.nz/
