Nachbarschaft
Beechford is a tiny coastal hamlet of about 100 houses and only 70 permanent residents. Farmland surrounds the district.
The Bridestowe Lavender Farm is within an easy drive, as is the historical Low Head Pilot Station, lighthouse, and penguin viewings.
The world-famous Barnbougle and Lost Farm golf courses are less than an hour's drive.
The Tamar Valley has vineyards and wonderful local food producers, cherries, berries, and more. Make sure to pick up some Tasmanian cheeses and smoked salmon, or maybe some oysters and crayfish (lobster).
The Wine Trail will take you to wonderful vineyards such as Bay Of Fires vineyard, Pipers Brook, Delamere, with cellar-door sales. A pleasant drive over the Batman Bridge brings you to the vineyards and cellar doors of the West Tamar wine region.
Rumkommen
There is no public transport to Beechford. Your own car (or hire) would be necessary.
George Town is a short 15 minute drive, with shops, hotels, petrol stations, supermarkets and boat launching ramps.
The nearest large airport is Launceston Airport, 75kms away.

We had a wonderful stay at Susan and Teds home in Beechford
There was every amenity you could possibly hope for
We celebrated my husbands birthday with a meal cooked in a magnificent kitchen
Went for some great walks from the property and toured around the wineries and the Beaconsfield coal mine
c
Comfy chairs to watch the BIG TV with Netflix and have an afternoon snooze after a few chapters of a book
Not one but two ensuited bathrooms were a treat
You couldnt ask for a more relaxing break
Thank you Susan and Ted
Such a pleasure to host Susan and Ted at The Beach Shack
We had a couple of afternoon catch ups before their stay so we became friends before we had even swapped houses
We had a couple of catch-ups with Robyn and Peter before the exchanges took place which confirmed that they are indeed “people like us”.
It's a shame they had to cut their visit short because of COVID border restrictions looming.
They left our home clean and tidy, with delightful gifts awaiting us.
We would be happy to have them as guests again.
Robyn and Peter's home is in a great location on the Mornington Peninsula, close to the coast and the “back beaches”
It’s a quirky beach house harking back to childhood long hot summer holidays, the sort I didn't have a chance to experience until this exchange.
The home has coastal/beach theme decor in keeping with its location, and all the modern convenient features, including a ydishwasher.
We met our hosts beforehand, and were able to arrange a stay at short notice, for which we were very grateful.
We did quite a lot of exploring with this home as a base: Cape Schanck lighthouse, Peninsula Hot Springs, Flinders, Red Hill Market, Rye Back Beach, to mention a few.
Thank you Robyn and Peter - we loved our stay and are happy to recommend their home.

We love the coast, and look to escape the cold of a Tasmanian winter by going north to NSW or Queensland. We are not able to travel overseas any more.
