Note: Jan-April 2022 is marked as unavailable as we are having some maintenance work done. For last minute requests during this time, please check with me as we may be able to accommodate short stays in between projects.
Built in 2000, our house is the perfect spot for a family vacation on the north Oregon coast. The home has three bedrooms (2 with queen beds and 1 with a queen and a twin bed) and a family room with a fold out queen couch. The downstairs has two of the bedrooms, family room, a full bath and laundry and "mud" rooms. Upstairs is the living room (with wood stove), dining room, kitchen, one bedroom and deck (with BBQ). We have sleeping bags and pads if you want to sleep on the deck under the stars!
The house is stocked with puzzles, games, books and beach toys. You'll enjoy our stereo and many CDs.
Located on the north end of town, we are a 10-15 minute walk to the main part of town or the beach. A full service grocery store is a 5 minute walk from the house.
Gastzugang
The house is on two floors and has two steps up to access the first floor.
Anmerkungen
This is our second home, shared with Brock's sisters, and is not used as a rental. We don't have a cleaning service, so expect our guests to leave the house clean and ready for the next guest.
We do not allow guest pets in the house. On occasion our daughter's Australian Shepherd visits, so if you are extremely allergic to dogs this might not be the home for you.

Nachbarschaft
Manzanita is a quaint small town on the north Oregon coast. Unlike most coastal towns, Manzanita is oriented perpendicular to the coastline creating a compact main street/down town area with great shopping and dining. Food options range from upscale breakfast/brunch at Yolk to some of our favorite pizza anywhere at Marzano's to inexpensive but yummy Mexican at Left Coast Siesta and burgers and fries at the Sand Dune tavern. The main drag also has a gem of a bookstore (Cloud and Leaf), a full service spa (Spa Manzanita), multiple options for Yoga (my fav is Yoga Roots), a natural foods grocery store, boutique clothing stores (Unfurled, Syzygy) and much more.
But the best thing about Manzanita is the long, long stretch of public beach just waiting for you to explore. You can walk for 2 hours or more, from the base of Neahkahnie Mountain on the north to the jetty to the south. Sand bikes are available to rent in town or you can take a guided horse back ride through the nearby state park and along the beach. A short drive north of town takes you to the Neahkahnie Mountain trailhead. The hike up is well worth it for the breathtaking view of the coastline, bay and surrounding forest.
Manzanita is well located to explore the north and mid coast communities. South is the famous Tillamook Creamery (gotta have some cheese curds). The Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport is a two hour drive south. North is Astoria - the end of the Lewis and Clark trail.
Nächstliegender Flughafen
Nearest airport is Portland (PDX).
Rumkommen
Public transportation on the coast is very limited, so you'll need a car. Once at the house, you can easily walk to all the town has to offer.

Nancy
We are Brock (62) a retired architect, Nancy (61) a retired hospital administrator, two daughters Lauren (27) and Sarah (26). Brock runs, bikes (both road and mountain) and does photography - you'll see examples of both his work and other artists throughout our house. Nancy enjoys cooking, reading, hiking and planning home exchanges! Lauren works in public health and lives with her husband, Robert, in Berkeley. Sarah and her partner, Zac, are parents to Lydia (born May 2020). They both work in healthcare in Portland. We are sometimes joined by one or both families on exchange trips.
We have been exploring the world with home exchanges since 2008. As of June 2021 we are both retired. We love to explore the beauty of nature, so homes near national parks are a big plus. Europe has also been a favorite destination with exchanges in France, Italy and Spain over the last decade. We're "opportunistic" exchangers, often building our adventures around offers made by other members. We have two homes to offer. Our primary residence is in Portland, Oregon and we co-own a large house on the Oregon coast in the town of Manzanita. I look forward to meeting others who embrace the true spirit of home exchanging.
Since we don't have any feedback yet on PLU, upon request I'm happy to direct you to our profile on the other exchange site where you'll find many positive reviews.
We are fully COVID vaccinated as are all family members or friends that might travel with us.
