Our’s is a comfy family home that is very well equipped for all your needs.
We have 3 bedrooms with a double bed in each. The secluded garden has a seating area for meals or wine outside.
Windermere is in the Lake District National Park - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is arguably the most beautiful area of England - full of lakes, mountains & forests! It has good public transport links, with a train and bus station an easy 10 minute walk connecting us to the rest of the lakes, as well as Manchester Airport (via a direct train service). Unsurprisingly, we are surrounded by spectacular walks, from hills such as School Knott and Brantfell just a short walk away to the views and trails across and around the fells and lakes. We're lucky not only to be surrounded by beautiful scenery, but also lots of restaurants, shops, galleries, a cinema & a theatre - all within walking distance! Short drives away will take you to the more larger and more famous fells (mountains), lakes, museums, and quaint towns & villages. This area is also known for art, craft, and literature - think Wordsworth, Ruskin, Beatrix Potter.
Downstairs we have a well equipped kitchen with an island hob + bar stools. Our lounge / dining room has 2 big sofas and an arm chair, a TV (with netflix), wood burner fire, extendable dining table & chairs. There is also a seating area outside. We have a small utility area with washing machine & dryer and an outside area to air dry clothes.
Upstairs we have 3 double bedded bedrooms all with lots of hanging space & drawers. The upstairs bathroom has a shower-bath combo, sink & toilet. There is also a toilet downstairs. We have a small alcove office if you need to catch up on any work. Outside we have a secluded garden - front & back, that both catch the sun at different times of the day. We also have 2 off-road car parking spaces available plus extra street parking close by if needed.
Whole house exclusively available to guests. There is a step up into the house & bedrooms are up a staircase.

The house is located in the village of Windermere. It is a very popular tourist destination and therefore is teaming with cafes, restaurants, and shops to look around. Despite the busyness of the village centre, our house is located in a quiet residential area where the best of both worlds can be enjoyed. We are spoilt with very easy access to mountains & lakes - perfect for walking as well as to drive to and picnic beside. We will be happy to offer suggestions of the best places to visit. There's also outdoor sports (climbing & water sports) available through a number of companies. If you're looking for a bit of culture, we have 3 theatres, many art galleries, museums & historic houses to visit. When you want to relax we have an array of lovely bars, restaurants & shops in the area, as well as 3 local independent cinemas, all within easy drives or bus rides.
International guests can fly into Manchester Airport & either hire a car & drive to Windermere (1 1/2 hours) or get a train from Manchester to Windermere. Train & bus station is 10 minutes walk but there’s always taxis around.

Jacqui, Graham & Hana
We're a family of 4 - husband & wife, and two grown up kids, though our son will only rarely come on exchange with us. We're an arty family: Jacqui is an artist, (& teaches) our daughter is a graphic designer, our son a photographer, and Graham... well his mid-meeting doodles have a certain artist flare. Luckily, the area we live in is rather a good place to live for creative inspiration. Our home is in the Lake District National Park - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - that has been made famous for its striking fells and lakes that have inspired many artists and writers over the generations (think of likes of Wordsworth, Ruskin, Beatrix Potter).
We really want to have the opportunity to explore the world a little more and see 'people like us' as the perfect way to do so. Get in touch if you're interested in an exchange or if you'd like to come stay in our home when we're on our travels!
