The neighborhood is very close to downtown ( even few peopelesays now it's part of downtown!).  

i'm aisde but not officially into "Le Village Gay" usually called Le Village. 

The neighborhood is a mix between new constructions building and old ones which makes the charm of Montreal. 

You have the famous Jean Drapeau and Lafontaine Parks distance  walking or bicycling . 

All you need is distance walking : many restaurants on Ste Catherine Street (Le Village) or Ontario promenade , a big grocery store Métro (2 min), coffees, boulangerie,...

 The famous  neighborhood Plateau Mont Royal is 15 min by bus or bicycle. Olympic  Staidum is 25 minutes bicycling or 15 min by subway. 
Subway to downtown  (and more) is 4 min walking . Many buses. 
Mont Royal Mountain , Marché Jean Talon, Olympic Stadium are 30 min bicycling or by subway/ bus .

During the summer, St Catherine street is only walkable with no cars on a big paart so it's very nice to walk. This period you also have a place full of events and with amazing view on Jacques cartier's bridge (lights at night) : Le pied du Courant. You could see the fireworks, hear music, just chill outside on the sand or grab a food from a food truck. it's really a Montreal atmosphere event. I love it. 

Le Village is a very dynamic and ecletic neighborhood I like it :).

It's possible to park around for ree but not always easy ( I will help you). 

The location is perfect to move by car with 2 importants axes of Montreal (1 min ago) : Jacques Cartier's bridge (road 134)  to leave the city or even the road 136 (Autoroute Ville Marie) to cross the city from East to West.
