Neighbourhood

We live in Almere, close to Amsterdam. In the past, the place where we now live was a sea, the Zuiderzee. In the 40s and 60s of the last century, a part of the Zuiderzee was reclaimed and "new land" emerged. The city of Almere has been around for about 40 years and that is reflected in the modern cityscape. There is a lot of nature and water in and around Almere and yet you are in the heart of Amsterdam with a 20-minute train or car ride. In and around Almere there is a huge network of cycling and hiking trails. There are two bicycles to use. There are various parks and forests and of course the unique nature reserve Oostvaardersplassen. The Kemphaan city farm is a 5-minute drive away. This accommodates i.e. the Aap Foundation, a shelter for monkeys and other exotic animals. Around it is a wooded area where you can go hiking, climbing in the climbing forest, eat a pancake at the restaurant or visit the farmers market on Saturdays. And is the weather nice? Then visit one of the beaches along the various lakes surrounding Almere, go to Zandvoort or Scheveningen on the North Sea beach or drive to one of the many old villages on the "old land". Friesland with its many beautiful villages and plenty of water sport possibilities is only an hour away. Even Maastricht, the very tip of the Netherlands, is only 2 hours away from us.

Nearest airport

Schiphol AirPort is about half an hour by train or car.

Getting around

Almere is very centrally located and we have a very well-developed public transport network in the Netherlands. As an example; Utrecht 45 minutes, Den Bosch in more than an hour and Groningen in 1.5 hours, both by train and by car. Even Maastricht, the very tip of the Netherlands, is only 2 hours away from us.

Annet & Theo

We love to travel and have been to many countries. We both love warmth and the beach, but we also love beautiful nature and interesting cities. We are open to all destinations and are not bound to specific periods. We are very neat and clean and expect the same from our house changers. We do not smoke and only want to exchange with non-smokers. In 2024/2025 we want to make a long trip to Australia. We are open to long-term exchanges, but would also like to organize back-to-back exchanges. To be honest, we have no idea where we want to go yet, but I can name a few things we love. We enjoy nature in all its forms and enjoy walking and cycling. We also love beach life, snorkeling and swimming. City life offers its own advantages and offers a nice change from the other activities. Exchanging cars is also a big plus for us. All insider tips are more than welcome. 😉
