General overview
See the other side of Phuket, live like a local!
Our home is a 3 bedroom 3 bath condo (135 sqm) located on the southeastern side of the island of Phuket.
We have a large terrace (49 sqm) where you can enjoy the sunrise and the sea view every morning, and it is shaded in the afternoon so you can sit outside and just relax or read.
5 min to Ao Yon Beach, Phuket's only year round swimmable beach
5 min to Phuket Aquarium
15 min to Phuket Town
30 min to Kata and Karon Beach
40 min to Patong
The space
The main area is an open floor plan which has the kitchen, dining area, and living room area. The living room opens out onto the terrace. There is a guest bathroom by the entrance, which has a shower.
There are 3 total bedrooms, but 2 are ensuite and have their own bathrooms.
The master bedroom has a King bed (6ft/182cm), and double sinks in the bathroom. There is a secondary master bedroom which also has a King bed. Both these bedrooms have their own direct access to the terrace. Finally, there is a smaller third bedroom with a Queen(5ft/152cm)bed.
There is a shared lap pool downstairs, and another smaller pool (with kiddie pool) upstairs. There is a small shared gym as well, all available for resident use.
Guest access
We are located on the top floor of the main building (Floor 5). There is a 10 cm step to enter the building from the Floor 1 parking area, and an elevator that will take you upstairs. There is one small step into the condo from the hall. The upstairs pool is on the Floor 6. The lap pool is located below Floor 1, at the front of the complex.
The complex is gated with 24 hour security.
Notes
Our home is in a quiet residential area of Phuket, and mostly Thais live in the Panwa area - there is a very limited amount of tourists. Panwa has a lot of local charm, but is also very convenient to Phuket Town and other touristy hot spots.
We have drinking water delivered weekly, and a housekeeper that comes once a week to clean.
Our condo is definitely not luxurious and is a typical condo, but we love it and hope you will enjoy your time here in phuket and feel at home😊
Possible use of car
And for diving enthusiasts, we have a wonderful neighbor that can get your diving trip organized!

Neighbourhood
The local supermarket (Supercheap)/ 7-11 /vegetable seller/drink shop/laundry/thai restaurants/fried chicken cart/one bar are all downstairs with a 1-10 min walk.
Our neighborhood is predominantly Muslim, so you can hear the beautiful calls to prayer everyday.
For more shopping or dining options, transportation is recommended.
Getting to my home
From Phuket Airport, I would recommend a van or hired car. Just FYI taxies AT THE AIRPORT will be expensive. Locals will generally walk out the airport to the main road and get a ride share driver or hired driver to meet there. It will probably take about 1 hr to get to Panwa and roughly 1000 baht. We are on the opposite side of the island from the airport. We have a couple of drivers we use and can give you their contact info before you arrive. One has a van in case you have a large party and/or lots of luggage.
Nearest airport
HKT - Phuket International Airport
Getting around
Ride share apps, rental car or scooter. Or even try Songthaeows! Barring short walks, I don't recommend extended walking due to the heat, and sidewalks do not exist on most if the island.
For most of Phuket, there is NO real public transportation available. We rely on the ride share apps Indrive (Bolt and Grab are pricier) here to get around. If you rent a scooter or car, you will be able to get around a whole lot easier. There is an on site parking lot but it is first come first serve. Car parking on the island in general may prove challenging depending on where you go.
PLEASE NOTE : Phuket police are cracking down on unlicensed scooter drivers (you must have a motorcycle license from your home country) in various police checkpoints on the island. You WILL BE FINED if caught.
For now, we have not seen them in the Panwa area.
Phuket drivers are a bit crazy, so unless you are familiar driving in Asian countries or driving on the left side, please be very careful. Limited use of our car may be possible.

We're retired and bored! So we don't mind meeting up and taking you around a bit!
We had the best time in Sara and Brian's home in Phuket! It truly was a dream vacation for us. Their home is just perfect with everything you might need on your stay. I asked a million questions and Sara always answered without a delay and she gave us tons of ideas to do and see in their area. If you get a chance to stay at their home, you should jump on it! Thank you so much Sara & Brian! <3
Sara and Brian are like rock star level of home swappers. We felt very unprepared in comparison! :)
Phuket is obviously a dream destination and we felt very lucky to have two weeks in summer holidays to spend there.
Panwa is the quieter side of the island. Perfect if you want to experience a more authentic and chilled end of Phuket. No where in Phuket is really far, and Sara and Brian left us a Totoya Yaris to use, ideal size for scooting around the island.
Two minutes drive brought us to Cape Panwa where we spent a lot of time. Lots of restaurants, shops, massage parlours etc. We got a monthly pass for the Pullman which is 2 mins from Sara and Brian’s for a great price, so had our own space in their apartment and could do day trips to a 5 star hotel wherever we wanted!
There’s a 7/11 in walking distance and their home is really comfortable and clean.
Mostly they are such lovely hosts, their welcome book is intimidatingly informative :)
I would definitely recommend exchanging. Thanks again guys!!
We loved our stay at Sara and Brian’s home and did everything they recommended including trying Sara’s favourite ice cream in old Phuket town and favourite type of popcorn at the cinema
We had great communication by WhatsApp throughout
We didn’t hire a car but instead used a combination of indrive/grab/bolt to get around which took the stress out of driving and finding places to park and was significantly cheaper than hiring a car and paying for parking and petrol
We ate breakfast at “home”
And often bought lunch from the roadside stalls next to “home” the fried chicken is delicious and we also loved pandam dumplings and mango sticky rice for desert
Then explored Phuket from night markets to water parks to beaches and island adventures
We had an incredible week at Sara and Brian's condo in Phuket! We finalized the exchange in January for a July arrival. During the six months before our exchange, Sara and Brian communicated about things to do and see in the area. This helps tremendously with planning. Additionally, they were available for questions we had as we continued to make travel plans. Upon arrival, they left a wonderful welcome basket of local snacks and teas. They checked in occasionally to make sure things were going well. We can't say enough about the level of communication. We truly felt like we got to know them without meeting them. We hope we will have a chance to say "thank you" in person during their visit to the US in the fall. In the meantime, "thank you" Sara and Brian for a week of memory-making for our family!
Our time in Panwa, Phuket was wonderful, and a big reason for this was all the help we received from Sara and Brian, their level of attention and wonderful condo!
We enjoyed our stay a lot, and would like to recommend to anyone who is interested in the area! Their are genuine people and very keen on sharing their knowledge of the area and help you in any way they can.
Thank you for everything Sara, Brian and Elaine!
Sara and Brian were so welcoming and helpful during our 2 night hospitality visit. Their home is clean and comfortable with a spacious terrace and the pool is incredible. They were wonderful hosts and we really enjoyed visiting the night market with them and being introduced to Thai bbq - an experience we wouldn't have discovered without local knowledge. We hope to be able to return their hospitality next year when they're in the UK.
We really enjoyed our time at Sara´s house. We really appreciated accepting us as a hospitality exchange (our first one on here). We loved getting to know Elaine, Sara and Brian in person and having insighther perspective from the island!
We have spent a lot of time together (discovering the island, sharing food) - that was really special for us!
The apartment is quiet, spacious and the world best lap-pool is in the house!
We just completed a 2 day Non Sim exchange with Sara and Brian in Phuket , Thailand.
Sara and Brian's home is lovely, meticulously kept and very comfortable. They more than went out of their way to make us comfortable. And showed us around too.
Sara and Brian were wonderful hosts. Always in contact with us and ensuring we had everything we needed. Their home was delightful, with a view over the sea, plenty of room and two outdoor pools for swimming in a quiet non touristic part of Phuket.
There was a booklet with detailed and clear information about how to use the house and places to visit which really helped. They also had the opportunity to get aquatinted with their neighbours. We even went diving with them. Thanks to them they also made our stay much more enjoyable.
Sara and Brian are so lovely, generous and hospitable. Their house is big, spacious, clean, well-kept and very pleasant as a vacation stay over! They provided warmth and care with their house manual and giving alot of travel recommendations to help us enjoy our stay in Phuket. They provided us with water, snacks and alot of other household supplies too which we appreciated alot.
Thank you so much once again!
We had the pleasure to have Sara and Bryan at our home, and it was a great experience. Communication was very friendly and easy, they were one of the bets guests we ever had. They took care of our home as it was theirs. We hope to see each other in the near future when they come for their next euro trip.
We had a truly wonderful experience hosting Sara, Brian, and Sara's mom at our home. We’re especially grateful for Sara's help with the purchase, alteration, and installation of the black-out curtains in our master bedroom—it makes waking up much more pleasant! Communication was flawless throughout the entire exchange, from start to finish. Sara kept us informed every step of the way, and her thoughtful check-in and check-out updates, complete with photos, gave us extra peace of mind.
Sara also shared her sightseeing adventures with the PLU community, offering us (who are part-time in Osaka) plenty of fantastic tips and recommendations for future visits. They were the perfect guests and left our home in immaculate condition, ready for the next visitors. We would be thrilled to welcome them back anytime they wish to return!
They are also lovely to have in your home, took care of our dog and were nice company for our housekeeper.
Thank you for the gifts there was really no need. I ate all the goodies by myself and didn’t share with my children at all!
We had the absolute pleasure of having Sara and her lovely family stay in our apartment for three weeks while we were away. They were the perfect guests and left our home clean, tidy, and with fresh flowers. Sara was very reassuring and sent photos when they left as we were not in Sweden yet. We would love to have them stay in our apartment again sometime.
It was a delight to meet Sara and Brian and welcome them into our home. They were both easy to communicate with and super warm and friendly! They looked after our place and kept it spotlessly clean, and also took great care of our cat which was appreciated!
We look forward to seeing them again when we visit Phuket!
Brian, Sara + mom are wonderful guests!
Great communication! Our exchange agreement was very quick as their travel plan matched well with our time away. It was fun to talk and laugh about a lot of things with Sara. Brian asked about different things around the flat, which showed how careful and respectful he was. We are grateful to this family, who took care of our home (and our plants) while we were a quarter of the earth away.
It was nice to see how they enjoyed Prague, it brought joy to us as hosts as well. We would definitely love to host them again should they plan to come once more.
Thank you, and we can't wait to plan our trip to Phuket in the near future.
Brian and Sara and their mother were the perfect guests. They kept our house in wonderful shape. When we returned everything was nicely taken care of.
Sara, Brian and Elaine stayed in our place for 6 days during Christmas for a Globe. They were keen on experiencing the “cold” North. ;) Communication was easy and fun and even though we are not home yet, I know that they left everything just fine. I hope we can meet in person somewhen and have good laughs together. Looking forward to the gifts from Thailand!
We are honored to be Sara and Brian’s first PLU exchange. They are lovely, respectful and fun couple to host. I really enjoyed get to know them and hosting in our Seoul The communication was excellent! Sara even brought special gifts from Thailand.
We can’t wait to visit beautiful Sara’s home in Thailand in near future.
Sara, Brian and Sara’s mom,Thank you so much for coming to Korea and stay in our home. I am so happy that you guys enjoyed our place and fun city!
Best,
Dana
Jenn and Gui's home is in a perfect location for extremely easy access to trams and right by Saint Peter train station. You can go anywhere and everywhere from their location.
Cozy and comfy home, and Jenn and Gui were always available if needed. Great communication. 👍
Grocery markets very conveniently nearby. Lots of ready to eat items to purchase, zero need to cook.
Great base to explored Belgium and beyond. Thanks Jenn and Gui!
It was a pleasure to have Mari and her family stay at our home. I love hearing from our guests while they are there, as it gives me joy to know they are enjoying their stay.
Communication was easy and fun on WhatsApp. They were even nice enough to leave our housekeeper a tip (unnecessary, but very thoughtful).
Hope to meet up with you one day!
We loved staying here!
Where should we start?
Location wise, it's in Sakai, which is south of Osaka downtown, BUT only a quick walk to the Sakai station, and a cheap 290yen on the NanKai line to get to Namba. You can transfer easily to daytrip to Kyoto and Nara. Everything is quite convenient logistically. There's shopping at the Sakai station, and we've bought lots of ready made food for dinner when we were too lazy to eat out but still wanted Japanese food.
And Sakai is a big enough city with it's own very fun activities. We actually spent a lot of time exploring Sakai, and wish we had more time to explore cities south of Sakai, like Kishiwada. We hope we can come back again and also try going out to Hiroshima and Kobe.
Communication with Teresa was easy peasy because she never seems to sleep haha.
Highly recommend exchanging with Teresa and Masami.
We had a simultaneous exchange, and we had great communication with Janet and her husband JP during our exchanges. There was a problem with our car battery, but JP took care of it. They had also bought some beach items for use and graciously left them for any future guests to use. Thanks!
What a great home! Lots of room to spread around, and it even has its own St. Bernard, Bella! We particularly enjoyed sitting on the large terrace in the mornings.
The home is right by Yas Island, which has many theme parks and attractions, and a very snazzy mall.
For other sights, Janet's helper Mr. Raju was nice enough to drive us, and we also used Uber or taxies. Rates are quite reasonable. We even did a quick side trip to Dubai.
Our visit in July/Aug was too hot to do much outdoor exploring, so we enjoyed staying at home some days and were treated to Mr. Raju's fantastic cooking. There is a Waitrose grocery downstairs where we (mostly I) overindulged in boxes of baklavas and deli salads we can't get in Phuket. Food heaven.
Janet and JP were great about giving us recommendations and were easy to communicate with. We had a great time there! Thank you!
Communication with Sarah was great from the start. She and her family took great care of our home while we were gone (even doing some minor repairs to a cabinet. Thanks!)
We had guests before and after Sarah and she was so helpful in receiving our home from previous guests and handing it off to the PLU guests after her. Sarah and family are welcome back anytime.
Oh my gosh, Jeta's home is the perfect spot for experiencing Stockholm. Great location with two bus stops less than 5 minutes away and a subway station less than 10 minutes away.
Her place had everything we needed to have meals at home or places nearby to go out (as well as multiple grocery stores and some lovely bakeries nearby).
I loved sitting on her balcony with a morning coffee overlooking the park. We loved Jeta's home and could not have enjoyed our three weeks here more. Jeta provided us with everything we needed and even met us upon arrival to give us a tour.
We hope Elizabeth and her family had fun in Phuket! Easy to communicate with and I'm sure they took care of our home and left it in great condition. We are traveling and our neighbor says "👍"!
Can't wait to meet them when we visit home later this year! They are welcome back anytime.
Alejandro stayed for 1 week at our home with his wife and cute son, along with his mother in law. Easy communication and they were great guests! We're very glad we were able to get this somewhat last minute exchange done, everything worked out!
We hope they enjoyed Phuket and our little Panwa area. They even found a new massage place for us! Thanks!
Thanks guys! We certainly loved your place and the area, nice and peaceful, and close to everything you need really, including lovely beaches, amazing Thai food, massages, etc.
Look forward to another exchange in the future! Thank you :)
It was a pleasure to host Ruth and Simon! They are warm, friendly, and fun 😁 seasoned travelers! They had an extra two days stopover in Phuket and we're glad they decided to hang out with us. Every time we host, it gives us an opportunity to "re-see" our little island. So thank YOU! Hope you enjoyed your time here!
We did a last minute one week non sim stay at Claire and Lloyd's lovely home in Singapore. We had the chance to meet with them before they left the house, and they are super nice and friendly 😊.
Their home is in beautiful Robertson Quay. Although not directly on a subway station, the bus stops right in front of the complex, and honestly, using the bus is so much easier. Minimal walking in the heat lol. They are central to most everything, and walkable to multiple food hawker centers. There are also many upscale restaurants across the river as well.
We didn't get a chance to enjoy the pool since we were out most of the time, but their friendly cat Hans was always there to greet us when we got home!
It was just the 2 of us this time, but even with more, there is plenty of room to spread out!
We hope to host them in our Phuket home one day soon. Thanks guys!
We absolutely enjoyed hosting Brigitta and Rene, and getting to know them! It's unfortunate that a last minute work requirement cut your trip short, but you gotta make the € !
Hopefully we showed you some good parts of Phuket. Maybe you can come visit again in the near future! We promise no more chicken feet for Rene!! 😆 🤣
We are so glad to have met Meher and Peter! Hosting is a very rewarding experience...you get to meet new friends from all over the world from different backgrounds!
We hosted Meher and Peter for 2 days and they are great guests, never complained about us dragging them around all day haha.
We hope to meet up with them again one day soon!
I don't know about who dragged who ...I think it was us wjo fid yhe dragging :) Brian drove us all over whilst Sara and I went yackity yack at the back. Thank you my dears and will make the second meeting happen in India, Thailand or Australia...
Tu& George's home is so cute! Tu was in constant contact with us and had some great recommendations in her home manual. It was very convenient to transportation (tram/train/bus/subway). Easy to navigate around using the transportation app and Google maps
Anyone visiting Prague (which is a gem) should contact Tu and George. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
We haven't returned home yet, but I'm sure David and Michaela left it in great condition. He even caught a leaky toilet. Glad he was there and it didn't need to leak for another 2 weeks until we got home.
Easy and quick communication, wonderful guests 👍
We arrived at David and Michaela's home at night and was met with a lit up Christmas tree inside their cosy home! What a nice welcome! There were also some treats for us, and lots of helpful post it notes 😆
The stairs upstairs were a bit tricky, so thank you for making up a bed for mom so she could sleep downstairs.
Zero communication issues, and helpful transportation instructions to Helsinki and other locations. It was super easy to walk to the supermarket and bus stop. Downloading the HSL app is a must!
Thank you for exchanging with us and giving us a true "White Christmas", truly memorable! I think we've seen enough snow for now 😆
Where do we start? There are so many things we loved about this home and Maike really made sure we felt at home .
Location wise, right on top of 2 supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, and a quick walk to the subway. Easy to get to city center.
The home is perfect size to just hang out if you feel like staying home, it's very cozy and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you needed, and communication easy and quick with Maike. We'd love to come back one day!! Thank you for having us!
Rachel and her friends were great guests! I didn't realize it was both our first PLU exchanges (her to Phuket, us to Seoul).
Easy to communicate with, took care of our home, and even left us a gift! We hope she had a great time in Phuket. You are always welcome to come visit us again!
This was our first ever home exchange, and WHY did we not do this sooner???
Dana's mom's place was perfect for the 3 of us. Easy access to buses and subway, and the neighborhood restaurants (because it's residential not tourist) offer delicious food for a good price. We initially thought we'd use the kitchen to cook, but it's just easier to eat out!
Dana was always available if we had questions, and it was great "living like a local" experience 😊 Thanks PLU and thanks Dana and family!
We're waiting to welcome you to Phuket!
(BTW, love how your mom uses the dehumidifier, we're stealing her idea and getting one too)
