General overview
We live in the Russian River area of West Sonoma County. It’s chock full of wineries, orchards, farms, quaint hamlets (Occidental and Forestville) plus close to the larger cities of Guernville and Sebastopol. Our lodge-like home sits on 3 acres surrounded by Redwood fairy rings and a seasonal creek. We’re a 5-minute drive to the Russian River and a 15-minute drive to the ocean. We adore this area and have lived here for 2 years now.
The space
We have a 3-bedroom main home with a large primary room with a king bed, a smaller bedroom with a queen bed and a massive 600 sq ft bunk room/playroom with 1 set of bunk beds, a single with a pull out and 1 full bed. There are 2 1/2 baths in our main home. We have a large open living room with a wood burning fireplace. In addition, we have a cozy cabin with a sofabed and a loft that has 2 twin tatami mats (not recommended for little kids as there is no railing). There is a full bathroom and compost toilet. We have a massive deck with a hot tub overlooking our fruit trees (apple, fig, plum, lemon and pineapple guava) which you are welcome to harvest if you come during the right season. We also have 2 kayaks and a canoe available to use.

We have a gate to our shared driveway which we can give you the code for and a punch key front entrance door.
Notes
We are very kid friendly and have an outdoor trampoline, 2 zip lines.

We are nestled between the quaint towns of Occidental and Monte Rio on the historical Bohemian Highway. You will definitely need a car to get around the area.
Getting to my home
We are approximately an hour and a half from San Francisco but our best kept secret is the Sonoma County/Santa Rosa airport (STS) which is 30 minutes from our home to avoid traffic from San Francisco.
Nearest airport
STS or the Sonoma County Airport is 30 minutes from us.
SFO and Oakland airports are both approximately 2 hours away.
Getting around
Our closest grocery is the Safeway in Guerneville approximately 15 minutes from us.
We do have a general store about 3 minutes away where you can pick up essentials.
The town of Occidental is 12 minutes from us and has 2 more general/small groceries, 5 restaurants.

We loved our stay in Francesca and Dan's wonderful family home in Monte Rio. We spent a long weekend at their home, and we ended up barely going out to all the amazing sights of and activities in the area because there was so much to do on their property! Their property is a kids' wonderland: acres of activities like trampoline, ziplines, a creek, swings, hammocks, slack lines, balance beams, outdoor tables, and more. In the house, the kids' bunk room is fantastic for kids, and the adults' bedroom has spectacular windows looking out to the forest. And the hot tub-- such a peaceful way to end the day when the kids are in bed. I really could go on and on. The location is great -- near plenty of restaurant options in Monte Rio, Occidental, and Guerneville. Lots of hiking and river-sports activities nearby. But when you're at the house, you feel wonderfully secluded. Communication was perfect. Francesca and Dan were always responsive and helpful.
