General overview

Our New Mexico home is the perfect place to reconnect and recharge. Nestled on 75 private acres in the mountains outside of Albuquerque, the property backs up to open space land, with no neighbors (except for the one, excellent, helpful neighbor who lives down the road. He built this house and is always available to lend a hand if needed). We just finished a major remodel on the home and we are excited to share (exchange) this sanctuary with the right family whenever we are traveling. Although we are new to home exchanging we are seasoned, confident travelers. We love learning and meeting new friends and we can't wait to discover more of what this wonderful world has to offer!

The space

The home is comfortable and unique. The decor is modern and clean. This mountain hideaway sits on 75 private acres with no neighbors. The 2-story home has one large bedroom and bathroom upstairs and 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms downstairs. There is also an exercise room with a Murphy bed, which doubles as a guest room. While we have two separate heat and air conditioning units, we rarely need them because of the cool mountain breezes (even in the summer). The property is at 7,500 feet in altitude. There is also a wood burning fireplace downstairs and a pellet stove upstairs to keep things cozy on those chilly nights. Speaking of nights, there are very few places in the world that you will find more spectacular, unobstructed views of the stars. There is no light pollution here. And no noise pollution for that matter. Also, we recently added a small heated pool with a waterfall.

Getting to my home

The best way to get to our home is to fly into the Albuquerque airport, rent a car and drive the 30 minutes to our property. The house is hard-to-find and we like it that way. While we are an easy 35 minute drive to both the Albuquerque airport and downtown, we are a world away from it all.

Nearest airport

Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ). 30 minutes away.

Getting around

You will need a car to get around as public transportation is not an option here. We are just 15 minutes away from the nearest town which has basic necessities (but not much else). There you will find a grocery store, a Walmart and a few local restaurants. These are mix of fast food (Starbucks, Subway, McDonalds, Dairy Queen, Sonic) and sit-down options (New Mexican food, pizza, Denny's). Nothing is delivered up here (so, no Uber eats, etc.). Generally, for restaurants and entertainment we prefer to drive the extra 15 minutes to get to Albuquerque. There you will find lots of world-class restaurants, great theater and other options. If you are more of the adventurous type, you will love our private, 1.3 mile hiking trail where you will see tracks (and scat!) from the forest critters all the time. There are also plenty of hiking trails in the surrounding area.

Rosa Linda

We are an adventurous family with a home base in New Mexico, USA. In June 2024 we are moving onto a catamaran to cruise the Mediterranean. We expect to be on the boat from mid-June 2024 to January 2025. We would love to set up some exchanges so that other PLU members can enjoy our peaceful, 75 acre property near Albuquerque & Santa Fe, New Mexico during these months. While we are a family of 5, our oldest is now off to college, so our current travel party will be 2 teens and 2 adults. If all goes well, we will have our beloved, professionally-trained, 8 year old German Shepherd, Nala, with us on the boat. That means any exchanges we set up (for some land-based adventurers between ports) would have to include Nala. We all love learning, especially through travel, and can't wait to meet new friends to discover more of what this wonderful world has to offer, while sharing our little slice of heaven with others.
