There is a ten minute walk to the sea (Kalmarsund). It is close to shopping, restaurants, supermarkets as well as nature, beaches, historical/cultural/archaeological museums and places.

Kalmar Öland Airport, 10 minutes by car (national flights to Stockholm Arlanda Airport or Stockholm Bromma Airport)
Getting around
Suitable for walking, biking (5 bikes available, 2 for children), bus or car.
Drive 10 minutes over the Öland bridge to Swedens second largest island Öland with a unique landscape and a Unesco world herritage as well as nice beaches.
If you have smaller children take a day trip (1h 45min drive one way) and visit Astrid Lindgrens world. Let the kids meet up with their favourite characters like Pippi Longstocking, watch outdoor theaters, play in terrific playareas. Have really nice familyday that is enjoyable for audalts as well as for the kids.
