Neighbourhood
Glenties is a five time winner of the All Ireland Tidy Town competition. It is the birthplace of Patrick McGill the Navvy poet and The resting place of Brien Friel, playwright best known for writing 'Dancing at Lughnasa' which was made into a film starring Meryl Streep.
Town is situated between three glens and is a great base for touring all the sights in North west Donegal. People are friendly and several beautiful beaches are less than 20 minutes drive away. Also perfect for hiking/walking.

After an exhausting day of getting lost on the trails of the Giants Causeway, Angeline had dinner and hot tea awaiting us on arrival. We were fortunate to get to know Angeline and find out that our stories have some similarities. Like myself, Angeline has a son with Autism, which some of you may know if you have seen me post in this group before, I am a huge advocate for those in the Autism community. She and I spent much time during our visit just resonating with stories; I could have listened to her stories for hours. She had so much knowledge of the area and gave us so many tips on where to see the best sights in Ireland in her area of Donegal. We had thrown in some American spirit in there by getting sidetracked through a dirt mountain road, but it turned about to be the most beautiful scenery of our drive throughout all of the drive in Ireland. I would recommend anyone traveling to Angeline’s area to reach out to her and share a cup of afternoon tea. We felt so welcomed during our entire stay with Angeline! -
Angelene’s home in Glenties is comfortable and spacious and so well equipped, we wanted for nothing. Only minutes from the town and close to spectacular beaches and stunning scenery. Communication was warm and friendly. If you get the chance to visit Angelene’s home do not hesitate. Thanks again, Angelene and John, your kindness is very much appreciated x -

Wonderful stay at the home of Angelene and John ! This is one of the nicest welcomes we have had in over 10 years of home exchanges. Communication with Angelene was excellent, before, during and after the exchange. She made sure we had all the information we needed. The house is very well located for visiting Donegal and the surrounding area. There are a lot of activities to do and the landscapes are really beautiful. We were really well settled in the house of Angelene and John. The house is large and super clean. Do not hesitate to make an exchange with Angelene, she is so nice and her house is just perfect. This is a must see destination not just for the beauty of Donegal, but for the opportunity to meet Angelene and her family. Angelene welcomed me and my friends with warmth, kindness, and generosity. We felt at home right away. Angelene showed us around to some of her favorite places nearby. Her home is spacious and well equipped. We were sad to leave this beautiful sanctuary. Her home is a great vantage point to travel to the many places. Slieve League, Derry, Killybegs, Ardara are only a few, not to mention the many beautiful beaches. Put this on your bucket list. You won’t be disappointed. -
