Algemeen overzicht

Our home is a light and comfortable family house of approximately 128 m², designed for relaxed everyday living. It has a sunny south-facing garden with open views, as well as a front garden, so there is always space to enjoy being outside. Inside, the house offers four bedrooms, including one large bedroom in the attic, and a separate home office. Two of the bedrooms have their own sink, which is very convenient when travelling with kids. There is a bathroom with shower and toilet, plus an additional separate toilet downstairs. The house has a spacious entrance hall and a utility room with washing facilities, which makes longer stays easy and comfortable. The living areas are bright and welcoming, and the house feels calm. Bicycles are available, making it easy to explore the area like a local. Our home is well suited for families who appreciate space, light and a relaxed atmosphere close to nature.

We live in Castricum, a friendly and relaxed town in North Holland with the perfect balance between nature, beach and easy access to famous Dutch cities and sights. From our home you can reach the most iconic places in the Netherlands very easily: • Amsterdam Central – 30 minutes by direct train • Zaanse Schans (windmills) – 15 minutes by train • Alkmaar (traditional cheese market) – 10 minutes by train • Haarlem – 30 minutes by train Castricum itself is only 4 km from the beach and surrounded by beautiful dunes, forests and nature reserves, ideal for walking, cycling, mountainbiking, running, surfing or kite surfing. It’s loved by people who enjoy being outdoors, with endless routes through nature and fresh sea air. At the same time, this is a wonderful base for culture and city life. Nearby Amsterdam, Haarlem and Alkmaar are full of museums, historic canals, architecture, cosy neighbourhoods, music, theatre and festivals. You can easily visit highlights such as the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House, Haarlem’s charming old centre and the famous Alkmaar cheese market. Castricum has a warm, welcoming village feel with nice cafés, restaurants, bakeries, shops and local markets. In spring the surrounding flower fields are beautiful, summer is perfect for the beach, and in every season the dunes and forests are wonderful to explore. It’s a great place if you want the best of both worlds: busy days full of adventure and culture, followed by peace, space and nature when you come “home”.

Now that they are getting older and not with me all the time, travelling together feels especially special. We are new here and excited to start exchanging. We treat other people’s homes with care and respect and value open, friendly communication. Our kids are used to travelling and are respectful of other people’s belongings. At home, we share our space with two cats, who are very much part of our daily life.
