Welcome to the People Like Us Home Exchange Platform (Platform). This document sets out the Copyright Policy of People Like Us Home Exchange Pty Ltd ACN 637 558 199 (referred to in this Copyright Policy as ‘we’, ‘us’, or ‘our’).

This Copyright Policy outlines our commitment to respecting intellectual property rights and explains the procedures for addressing claims of copyright infringement on our Platform.

For users of the Platform, this Copyright Policy operates in conjunction with our Service Terms & Conditions (Terms & Conditions), which include additional provisions regarding intellectual property rights, user responsibilities, and limitations of liability.

For third parties (e.g., copyright holders who do not use the Platform), this Copyright Policy provides a standalone framework for addressing copyright concerns on the Platform. It is not necessary to be a registered user to submit a copyright complaint.

In the event of a conflict between this Copyright Policy and the Terms and Conditions (for registered users), the provisions in the Terms and Conditions will prevail.

  1. Respect for Copyright

    We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect our users to do the same. Users may only upload, post, or otherwise make available content that they own, have permission to use, or that is otherwise permitted under applicable copyright laws.

  2. Reporting Copyright Infringement

    If you believe that content on the Platform infringes your copyright, you can submit a written notice to us at copyright@peoplelikeus.world.

    Your notice must include:

    • A description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed;
    • A description of where the infringing material is located on the platform (e.g., a URL or other specific location);
    • Your contact information (name, address, email, and phone number);
    • A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
    • A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf; and
    • Your physical or electronic signature.

  3. Response to Copyright Concerns

    Upon receiving a valid copyright infringement notice, we will investigate and may remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content. During the investigation, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the user’s account if deemed necessary. We will notify the user who posted the content about the complaint, providing an opportunity for them to respond. Depending on the investigation's outcome, further actions, including permanent account termination, may be taken. If you are found to have infringed copyright, your account may be permanently deleted without further notice.

    If you believe that your content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice to us at copyright@peoplelikeus.world. Your counter-notice must include:

    • Identification of the content that was removed and where it appeared before removal;
    • A declaration that the information is correct, and that you understand that providing false or misleading information may result in legal consequences, including penalties under the law;
    • Your contact information (name, address, email, and phone number);
    • A statement indicating your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts in your region or where the claimant is based; and
    • Your physical or electronic signature.

    Upon receiving a valid counter-notice, we may reinstate the content unless the complainant initiates legal action within a reasonable timeframe.

  4. Prohibited Activities

    To protect the intellectual property rights of all users and third parties, the following activities are strictly prohibited on the Platform:

    • Uploading, posting, or sharing content that infringes the copyright of others;
    • Sharing or distributing copyrighted content without explicit authorization or a lawful basis.

  5. Repeat Infringer Policy

    We take copyright compliance seriously. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright or violate this policy, as required under applicable copyright laws and global best practices. In addition, accounts may be suspended or terminated upon receipt of a valid copyright infringement notice, pending investigation. If a user is found to have infringed copyright, their account may be permanently deleted without further notice.

  6. Platform Disclaimer

    We are not responsible for monitoring, screening, or evaluating the content uploaded by users. However, we reserve the right to remove or restrict access to content that we determine, in our discretion, may infringe intellectual property rights or violate this policy.

  7. Limitation of Liability

    We are not liable for user-generated content. Our liability in relation to any copyright claims or disputes is limited to the extent set out in the Limitation of Liability clause in our Terms and Conditions. By submitting a claim or engaging with the Platform, you acknowledge that your rights are subject to those limitations.

  8. International Application

    While this policy aligns with principles under Australian copyright laws, including the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth), we recognize that copyright laws vary by jurisdiction. Users are responsible for understanding and complying with the copyright laws applicable in their country of operation.

  9. Changes to This Policy

    We may update this Copyright Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We encourage users to review this policy periodically.
