General Overview
Hello,
we are offering a large rooftop apartment with an area of over 140 m2.
The apartment has a large living room with a partially separated office with a desk and an extra pull-out double sofa bed.
In addition, there are three bedrooms as well as a large kitchen, two bathrooms, a balcony facing the street and a terrace facing the beautiful and well-kept courtyard.
The bedrooms are air-conditioned.
The apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The Space
A large, inviting living room with a comfy sofa, TV (with Netflix and Amazon Prime), and a cupboard full of board games for your enjoyment.
From the living room, you can access a terrace with many plants and a comfy outdoor sofa, overlooking a beautifully maintained courtyard.
There’s an office attached to the living room, semi-separated by a fixed partition wall. It has a pull-out double sofa-bed, a desk with two monitors for remote work, and a few fun extras like a dartboard, a piano keyboard, and a foot massager. For extra privacy, this area can be separated from the living room with a foldable partition panel.
Three air-conditioned bedrooms:
Master bedroom: A double bed, work desk with two monitors, and a balcony that overlooks the street.
Second bedroom: A single bed that can convert into two completely separate singles and a desk for studying or playing.
Small bedroom: Convertible single/double sofa bed and a desk.
All the bedrooms offer charming views of the street, lined with 100-year-old buildings and beautiful plane trees. You can see far along the Schloßstraße, one of Berlin’s favorite shopping streets, and the iconic Bierpinsel tower. The views are especially beautiful on winter evenings, when the lights from the windows and snow-covered rooftops create a cozy, magical atmosphere.
Kitchen and Bathrooms:
Fully equipped kitchen with a dining table for 6, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, a capsule coffee machine, and a Thermomix (we might occasionally take it with us, but only if we travel by car to our holiday house).
A large bathroom with double sinks, a bathtub, shower, and toilet.
A smaller bathroom with a sink, shower, and toilet.
Our apartment is located on the top floor of a well-maintained, over 100-year-old building. Access is easy with an elevator from the ground floor.
You will find some roller skates as well as inline skates, two wave boards and helmets in our apartment that you can use if you like.
Guest Access
The apartment is located on the top floor of a well-maintained five-story, 100-year-old residential building. Access is via elevator directly from the ground floor. There is one step between the street level and the elevator and one step on the top floor between the staircase and our apartment.
Notes
We are happy to welcome you into our actual home, a place filled with personal belongings, furnishings, and equipment that we use in our daily lives. This isn’t a place designed to look good in photos, but rather a comfortable, lived-in space meant for everyday life of our family.
We truly care about making our home inviting for your stay, and while we strive to ensure everything is in order, please understand that it may have some imperfections. After all, this is a personal home—not a hotel or AirBnB.
We kindly ask you to treat our home with care and consideration, just as we would. Please be mindful of our neighbours and respect their peace and privacy. Maintaining good neighbourly relations is important to us, as it helps ensure we can continue participating in home exchanges. We ask that you follow the same house rules that we ourselves live by, which will ensure a smooth, respectful, and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Lastly, please remember that private short-term rentals like AirBnB are prohibited in both our city and our building. We kindly ask that you refrain from behaviors that could disturb our neighbors or put us in a difficult position, as this would undermine the spirit of home exchanges and disrupt the harmony of our community.
With home exchanging, we are each other's guests, not each other's customers, regardless of the type of exchange involved.
Thank you for understanding and for helping us keep our home a welcoming place for all!

Neighbourhood
Our home is located in a lively, family-friendly, and safe neighborhood just a 4-minute walk from Walther-Schreiber-Platz. From here, you can easily access Schloßstraße, one of Berlin’s best shopping streets.
A large Rewe supermarket, open until 10 p.m., is right next door, you don't even need to put your street-shoes or street-clothes on to get there, you can walk the 10 meters wearing your slippers and pyjamas. Other supermarkets like Edeka, Aldi, Lidl, and another Rewe are just a couple of minutes' walk away.
Our neighborhood has a rich history, known for its green spaces and charming 100-year-old buildings that survived World War II. Its residential streets are perfect for leisurely walks, and you’ll be walking in the footsteps of artists like Marlene Dietrich, whose grave is a 15-minute walk from our home. Still today, many artists, painters, sculptors and writers live here.
During winter, you’ll love the small Christmas market at Walther-Schreiber-Platz, where you can try traditional German Christmas snacks like Glühwein, roasted almonds, and ornamented gingerbreads.
Our area is not only well-connected, but also offers everything you need within walking distance—shops, cinemas, restaurants, cafes, and more. It’s safe and welcoming, and we’ve always felt comfortable letting our kids explore the neighborhood on their own, even on the winter months, when it gets dark early.
We truly love our home and are confident you’ll feel the same way!
Getting to my home
The apartment is easily accessible at any time of the day or night using public transport, the subway or night buses.
Nearest airport
From BER airport it is easy to reach by public transport in just over an hour or by taxi in 30 minutes.
Getting Around
Public transport is fantastic here! The U9 subway and several bus stops are only a few minutes away, and the S-Bahn Line 1 is about 8 minutes by foot. Whether you want to visit the Brandenburg Gate, Kurfürstendamm, or other famous spots, you can get there quickly and easily.
In 9 minutes, the U9 takes you straight to Zoologischer Garten and the famous Kurfürstendamm, the heart of West Berlin’s city center from the times of the Berlin Wall. The S1 line can whisk you to the famous Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag in just 15 minutes. From there, you can take a beautiful walk down Unter den Linden, one of Berlin’s most famous streets lined with landmarks, all the way to Alexanderplatz with its famous TV Tower.
In summer, you can take a 5-minutes bus ride to the open-air public Sommerbad am Insulaner, a nice open air swimming pool and leisure complex (you can also take a walk there). The same bus stop will also get you to a planetarium and observatory where you can look at the moon, stars and planets through a telescope on clear weekend nights. The S-Bahn S1 also provides easy access to Berlin’s beautiful lakes, perfect for a day out.

Hello, we are a family of four from Berlin, Germany, a data engineer (Kasia) and a software developer (Bartek), both in our forties, with two teenage children: Kora and Emil.
Due to the school age of our children, the availability of our apartment is limited to the school- and public holidays in Berlin.
We can also exchange on some weekends.
We are open to many destinations. We would also gladly visit locations less or not at all popular among tourists.
So if you fancy a stay in a big and comfortable apartment in a very safe area in Berlin, Germany, feel free to contact us and let's talk.
We also accept Globes!
