We had such an amazing home exchange with Eva through "people like us"! This was a non-synchronous exchange—while we were enjoying her home in Afitos, a lovely family from Croatia was staying at our place in Edinburgh. As this was our first time, Eva was truly a fantastic mentor, guiding us through everything.
Our arrival was seamless, and from the moment we walked in, we were so impressed. The photos on her PLU profile don't do the place justice—it was so much more comfortable and welcoming than we even expected. Her home was absolutely spotless and came fully equipped with everything we could possibly need, from plenty of towels to beach gear. Best of all, there were tons of games for children, and our 4-year-old was entertained the entire trip! The only small suggestion for future guests would be to add a large chopping knife to the kitchen, but we made do just fine! To top it off, she'd left us some water, a bottle of wine, and local leaflets when we arrived.
It was also a huge help when she asked if we could prepare her place for a back-to-back exchange right after our stay. We were more than happy to do it. She checked in with us every single day to make sure we were doing well, which was so thoughtful.
The double beds were super comfortable, and while the single beds had slightly firmer mattresses, they were still perfectly clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was a lifesaver!
Eva's recommendations for beaches, sightseeing, and restaurants were spot-on and made our trip so much better. We loved exploring the village of Afitos and found some awesome local spots just a short walk from her place. We highly recommend Ta Mpakaliarakia for the best seafood platter and Saboro for delicious local sausages and Greek dishes. For dessert, we fell in love with Fatsaki ice cream. They were incredibly honest, too—we accidentally dropped 5 euros, and they found it and gave it back to us the next day!
We also took some time to explore the area, visiting the incredible Petralona caves and the Byzantine Museum. Halkidiki is stunning, and the information Eva gave us about the three peninsulas was so useful. We even did a fantastic Toroneos Kassandra Cruise, which you can find out more about by emailing boat_adventure@yahoo.gr.
Eva's hospitality, flexibility, and all the little details made our first-ever home exchange an experience we'll never forget. Everything turned out perfectly, and we are so excited to organize our next adventure on the PLU platform again!
Thank you for your beautiful feed back, as well as for preparing my home for the next guests! Much appreciated! Hope we meet some day in Edinburgh!
We came to Eva's home in the off season. We've heard Afytos is very busy in summer but was quiet during our trip (which was fine by us). We had plenty of room to spread out at Eva's house, we enjoyed the living room with two couches and a view out across town. There are a couple of restaurants, a market and a wonderful bakery within walking distance. We had a car so there were three nearby towns within 10 minutes with even more options. We also took some road trips around Halkidiki, to Thessaloniki and even over to Vergina and Veria. Eva was easy to contact and always available whenever we had questions, she's a great host. Eva left us some wonderful treats when we arrived which we greatly appreciated. We look forward to welcoming her and her family to Phuket in 2026!
Eva is an incredibly kind person, and we had wonderful communication with her. She responded to every message, offered advice, and gave us tips on where to go and what to see. She also provided us with a guidebook to Afytos and the surrounding area. Afytos is a charming town with many lovely stone houses, delicious restaurants (we highly recommend the one closest to the house, Sobboro), and crystal-clear waters where fish swim right by your feet. The house is in a perfect location – in a quiet area, yet just a 1-2 minute walk from the center of Afytos. The house is spacious, comfortable, and has air conditioning in every room. The kitchen is equipped with everything one might need (and even more!). An additional highlight is the large balcony, where you can always hear the sound of cicadas. I wholeheartedly recommend Eva as a host and Afytos as a fantastic vacation destination.
If Greece is on your travel wishlist, Eva's home is a great choice.
Eva is an incredible host. Not just that we found a beautiful and confortable house, with a great view over the village and even to the see, but Eva put lots of effort for our stay. She went and picked an order we made at Ikea's. She even bought some toys for our daughter to find at her home. I can't even remember all the little details she took care of before our arrival. We were impresed with all the effort she made for our stay in her house.
We were travelling with small kids and most of the time we needed to be away from the noise. Eva's home is 5 minutes walk to the vibrant village center, but everything we could hear was the birds singing.
If we needed something Eva responded within minutes, sometimes seconds even if she had a busy schedule, travelling as well.
Thank you, Eva, for a great experience and for being the host everyone wishes for!
We spent one wonderful week with our family in Eva's amazing apartment.
This is the best place if you would like to rest and if you want to enjoy the most beautiful beaches of Greece.
Afytos is only 80 km from Thessaloniki.
This city is a jewelry box full of very good restaurants, cafes, shops, bustling life. This very clean and fully-equipped (and equipped with air conditioning) apartment is a few steps from the bustling city center, but you can still relax here in perfect silence.
This was our second meeting in home exchange with Eva.
I love her, she is very nice and friendly, giving a lot of ideas and very easy to communicate with her.
Don't hesitate to make a change with them!
I can only recommend them!
Eva and her daughter Demi travelled to India for a friend's wedding and stayed at our home for a few days whilst I was away. They were very kind to my maids, were tidy and respectful and were very easy to host. Welcome again anytime.
Panos and Demi were the perfect guests, and Eva the perfect coordinator! Our communications were clear - we zoomed prior to the exchange, and set up a WhatsApp group chat to communicate throughout their visit.
My condo was sparkling clean, with all the sheets and towels washed. A lovely gift of some Scottish whisky which I will be sampling soon.
If you have the chance to host Panos and Demi - and Eva if she can make it, you will have a wonderful exchange!
Liz
I wish everyone such guests!
Eva and her lovely family spent one week in our home.
Very kind persons, quick communication, after two exchanges it was as if we were already friends.
And they left a lot of wonderful gifts as a thanks gift!
We welcome them again anytime!
So, don't hesitat to accept their request!
I recommend them!
Eva’s husband and son just stayed in my apartment whilst we were away on another swap. They were perfect guests and Eva is a great communicator. They left delightful Greek gifts and a lovely clean house. Happy to recommend them.
Thank you, you are always welcome to our place, as well!
Azul and her family spent 10 days at my home, with a Globe. They were very nice and kind exchangers, and took good care of my home. We had good communication during the exchange. She also prepared my home for the next exchanger, as there was a back to back exchange afterwards. Last, but not least, they replaced 2 lamps that went out.
I would certainly recommend them as exchangers! Thank you Azul!
Sara and her husband were wonderful guests! They took good care of my home and we had very good communication, before and during their stay. They also brought for cute presents for Phuket! I hope we meet some day! Thank you Sara and Brian!
We stayed at Meher's home, Pune, India, for a few days. Me and my daughter visited Pune for a wedding. Her home is very clean, very beautiful and excellently decorated and her dog April is loveable. Selina, her maid was very helpful and kind. Apart from that, Meher arranged our trasnsport from and to Mumbai airport, as well as gave us advice for places to visit. She always replied to all our questions during our whole stay. Thank you Meher for your hospitality and your support. We are expecting you in Greece, you are always welcome.
Thanks Eva
It was a pleasure. Hopefully we get to Greece in 2025! :)
Klaudia and her family spent a couple of weeks at my home, which they respected and left clean. Nice and kind family which we totally recommend! Thank you Maja for your drawings and thank you for your presents! Looking forward to meeting you in Norway :-)
This was very nice exchange, we stayed almost 2 weeks in Evas home. Home is very good located, almost in centrum but it‘s very quiet. The house is well equipped. We have had exellent kontakt with Eva from the beginning to the end. Afytos and surroundings are beautyfull, see is clear, people nice, food delicious. I deeply reccoment do Exchange and meet Eva! ❤️
Violeta and her beautiful family stayed to our home for a couple of weeks. They were very respectful, very kind and we had good communication all the time. In fact, we consider them as friends, now. Hope one day we will also visit them in Bucharest,
We are looking forward to meeting you again! We really hope you will come to Bucharest someday. Our daughter hopes to met your grown up kids :)
My husband and my adult daughter stayed a week at Liz's home.
The home itself was clean and beautiful. Its location could not be better, as it is near the public transport and this makes it convenient for the guest to explore San Francisco.
Liz was kind and communicative, always there (on WhatsApp group, I mean) to help at no time!
I would also like to add that this was a last minute exchange (very short notice, 10 days before the trip) and Liz was very willing to help! Thank you Liz for your hospitality! Panos and Demi had a great time! You are always welcome to Greece!
Thank you Eva, Panos and Demi. You made the exchange easy and Panos and Demi were wonderful guests. Come back anytime!
We had a lovely time at Judit's and Illes' house! Budapest is a very beautiful city and the house itself is peaceful, with a lovely garden, located at a nice village, Vacratot, outside Budapest. Judit was a wonderful hostess and always keen to reply every question we had! Thank you Judit, Illes, Eszter! We consider you as friends and you are always welcome to our home :-)
Nice & smooth exchange, for a globe. The house is well located and near public transport. Lorraine & her daughter were very helpful with a lot of information, regarding London area. Certainly, recommended.
Judit and her family are very kind and friendly people. They took care of my home, as if it was their home. They left it perfectly clean and tidy. I would definitely recommend them as guests (and as hosts as well, since I have also stayed at their home, in Budapest). Judit, Illes, Eszter really wish you all the best :-)
