General overview

We would love to welcome you to the beautiful East Lothian area - a paradise for golfers, beach lovers or those wanting to visit Edinburgh and the surrounding area. We live in a quiet cul de sac of 18 houses with an orchard in the middle. More photos to come when my camera arrives!

The space

Our house is a comfortable four bedroom family home, with open plan kitchen and dining area and a lounge area with patio doors leading to a conservatory area. Our garden is enclosed and is a real sun trap. We have a large BBQ and decking area with ample seating for eating al fresco. The layout of our home is over two floors, with the upstairs consisting of the four bedrooms and a family bathroom. Our area is great for cycling and our guests will have the use of an adult road bike and an electric bike. We are keen golfers and have various sets of clubs (if we are not taking them with us on exchange!).

Neighbourhood

East Lothian is renowned for its numerous castles, beautiful beaches and small fishing villages and harbour towns – there is so much to keep you occupied! All activities are within easy reach of our house, which is perfectly located in the middle of East Lothian, a short walk to Longniddry beach. A little further East, in Dunbar, there is the East Links Family Park which is a great day out for the kids. Foxlake is a 5-star award-winning adventure hub offering the UK’s first ropes course over water in FoxFall, Wakeboarding, Ringos, ZipTrail, Segways and Open Water Swimming. You can also do Coasteering, SUP and open water swimming on the many safe beaches in the area. OceanVertical can arrange for Surfing, SUP, coasteering and other adventurous activities. Stretching for 30 miles along the East Lothian coast, Scotland’s Golf Coast has 21 courses to choose from and the greatest concentration of championship courses in the world, including Gullane, Muirfield, Renaissance, North Berwick and Dunbar. You can also play Musselburgh Old Course one of Scotland’s oldest and set in the middle of a racecourse! For the foodies out there, East Lothian and Edinburgh have a wide range of amazing eateries and food experiences. You can also do tasting tours of the nearby Gin Distillery in North Berwick or Glenkinchie whisky distillery Edinburgh is a mere 20 minute drive (9 miles) or a half hour train journey from our house. It really needs no more explanation – a fabulous City that is both beautiful and interesting, Edinburgh has it all. From Edinburgh Castle, the Zoo, great museums and dungeons, you will need to plan your trip carefully to get round it all. If you want to visit the mountains of Scotland, you can easily make a day trip up to Glen Coe or Ben Nevis (2.5 hour drive). Our area is the perfect base for exploring all that Scotland has to offer.

Getting to my home

Our house is a ten minute walk from the Longniddry train station (20 minutes from Edinburgh Waverley Station). If arriving by car, we are on the main A1 road from England to Edinburgh. We are a 30 minute drive from Edinburgh Airport.
