Neighbourhood
We live in such a lovely part of the world on the edge of Taradale & Elphinstone. It’s a great place for local wines, beers & produce. We have a vibrant art scene, great playgrounds, a country feel but still close to all the things that big cities provide.
We live on 7 acres, so you have privacy whilst still having neighbours very close by. 500 metres down the road is the local recreation centre which has weekend games of cricket and football, a children’s playground, weekly playgroup for children under 5 and their parents, & the annual Winter Soltice bonfire. The local pub (The Elpho) and milk bar/ post office is only 3 km away and a lovely walk in nice weather.

Taradale had an excellent children’s playground, petrol station/post office/ milk bar, pottery shop, small art gallery & wine & pizza bar. There is a festival once a year as well as an annual town dance (both of which are so much fun!). We have an art collective who do monthly life drawing sessions. There are also monthly produce swaps. Most Friday afternoons families take their children down to the playground whilst parents enjoy a local wine or beer at the Wine & Produce Bar.

Nearest airport
Melbourne’s Tullamarine international airport is 77km away & an easy drive. There is also an airport bus which does a pick up and drop off in Malmsbury. The smaller Avalon airport is 100 kms away. Bendigo airport is 40kms away and only does domestic flights.
Getting around
We have a milk bar (like a small general store) 3 kms down the road, there is also one in Taradale and Malmsbury, but the closest supermarket is 13 kms away in Castlemaine.
You will need a car to get around, but it is also a nice spot for bike riding. We do have a car that may be available during your stay.
The closest train stations are Malmsbury (10km) & Castlemaine (13km) and it is an easy 1 hour ride to the centre of Melbourne or 25 mins to Bendigo.
