Neighbourhood

Fairfax is a quaint small town, mostly rural with forest and farmland. There is a small village center with shops, bakeries, and restaurants. More shopping and conveniences can be found close by in either Saint Albans or Burlington. We are close to both wilderness adventures and city conveniences: a quick 30-minute drive brings you to Burlington Vermont, which is a wonderful city and famous foodie town and craft beer destination. Montreal Canada is only 1.3 hours by car: an easy day trip for shopping, museums, and nightlife. It is only 3 hours to Boston. In just 20 minutes you can reach world-class ski resorts that offer year-round activities. Our location is an ideal base of operations for summer enjoyment with activities like sailing and swimming in Lake Champlain, fishing on our many local rivers, or hiking in the Green Mountains. In winter there are multiple ski areas close by: Smuggler's Notch, Stowe and Jay Peak are all excellent choices. There are cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails to explore as well as ice skating on the frozen lake and sledding on nearby hills. Whether you are wanting an active outdoor experience or a relaxing indulgent experience, northern Vermont will not disappoint!

Nearest airport

Burlington International Airport (BTV) is 30 minutes by car. Plattsburgh International Airport (PBG) is 1.3 hours by car. Montreal airports (YUL, YHU) are 1.5 hours by car; requires crossing the international border with Canada. Boston (BOS) airport is 3.5 hours by car.

Getting Around

A car is essential for transport around our area and the rest of Vermont. We are open to car exchanges as part of our house exchange agreements.

People Like Us Local Guide

I will happily offer suggestions on where to go, what to see, and where to eat for PLU's visiting anywhere in the state of Vermont! If I'm available I'd enjoy meeting up for coffee around the greater Burlington area.
