General overview
Our 133-year-old Victorian home is in the center of the Good Life. Our 3500 sq ft with four bedrooms and four full baths is extended with a very private back porch and a very neighborly wrap-around front porch. We walk to great restaurants, the city’s most beautiful park, tennis courts, a book store, a coffee shop, a university, and a pizzeria, and we golf cart to a large but quaint downtown that hosts many movie crews. A three hour drive can get you to the mountains of the beach and it’s only one hour to the atlanta airport.
The space
The en-suite guest bedroom, kitchen, and living area are all downstairs, along with a private office. Upstairs are two more bedrooms that share use of the full bathroom with claw foot tub and the master en-suite bedroom. Our favorite areas are the back porch where my husband has created a permanent kegerator (right now full of hard cider) and the front porch, where we host friends nearly every evening.
Guest access
We prefer to limit visitors to the bottom floor but if you need more than one bedroom, we are comfortable with letting you use our (now) grown children’s rooms upstairs. We will leave the keys to our golf cart so you can enjoy a ride downtown, have a drink or three, and cart back home. We will also leave a list of restaurants that deliver and a list of tv subscriptions you are welcome to use, along with some exploration suggestions.
Notes
It’s nice ten months out of the year but the summer can get really hot.

Neighbourhood
Macon was spared by General Sherman during the Civil war, so we have gorgeous old homes all around us. I put a few pics of them and our neighborhood restaurants in this listing. Morning and evening strolls may take you through quaint neighborhoods that end in an outdoor drink at a locally owned restaurant. The gorgeous park across the street has pickle ball and tennis for $3 a day, plus a soccer field, a weekly farmer’s market, a beautiful fountain, and lots of trees that can hold your hammock. You can walk or golf cart to a leisurely dinner than will cost you less than $40 for two people and the private university looks like Disneyland lit up at night.
Getting to my home
It is best to rent a car once you land in Atlanta, Georgia. Our home is an hour’s drive south and has safe parking. You are welcome to use our golf cart to go around our lovely downtown.
Nearest airport
Atlanta airport is one hour North
Getting around
We are an hour south of atlanta so you will probably want to rent a car, but if you rather not, we live in the center of everything. Once you are here, you are welcome to use our electric golf cart to get downtown and do many fun things are within walking distance.

This was my first swap. Laura was the perfect guest to get me started on this platform. From the start she was a clear communicator, responded promptly to all questions, and helped me feel relaxed leading up to the swap. After all the messaging Laura really did feel like a friend when I picked her up from the airport. It was fun getting to know her before she dropped my family back to the airport that night.
She took great care of my home, car, and cat. It was fun to watch her exploring my island home Oahu through her Facebook posts. Her kindness leaving us Georgia treats and a local gift certificate was well appreciated. Overall a great first swap and would happily welcome Laura back in the future. I look forward to creating an east coast adventure to include Laura’s home in Georgia someday.
I had good communication with Laura throughout the stay. Olive the cat enjoyed being looked after and our home was left beautifully on our return with some lovely gifts.
Laura and her family were wonderful guests. Contact went very well before and during their stay. We opened our house to them with a good feeling. Our cat Moos was very happy with their company. They left our house tidy and surprised us with treats and gifts. Unfortunately we were not able to meet each other, but our paths may cross again
Laura was the most gracious and warm guest and it was lovely to meet with her over a glass (or three) of bubbles before we left for our holiday. She made us feel so relaxed about leaving our extremely affectionate cat Bruce & Feisty love-bird Albert with her & we came home to our clean and tidy home and even some delicious cookies. Would love to visit her home in the future!
Laura & co. we’re a real delight to meet. Such warm.and friendly people. They were easy to host.
They were very thoughtful and even brought American treats to Ireland for our boys!
They were excellent guests and left our home in immaculate order.
We’d happily host them anytime and hope to see them again one day..
What a wonderful experience I had at Lydia’s place! Their location on the windward side of Oahu made it easy to see both the city of Honolulu/Waikiki and the wild beaches of the North Shore and their own Kailua. I explored a different area each day and then relaxed on their lanai with their sweet Mica cat each evening, listening to the laughter at the swimming pool just steps away. Make sure to visit Koalua Ranch, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and Disney’s Ailua Resort while you’re here!
Staying at Kate's place in the Cotswolds is pure bliss! Not only is her place beautiful, clean, organized, and super comfy, but the Best pub of all the villages we explored is right there in walking distance from her house! I do highly recommend a car, as her place is pleasantly distant from any trains or traffic (but Don't get an all-electric--not many chargers in the Cotswolds). Her fur baby Olive is a well-trained pure delight and Kate has lots of excellent suggestions for places to see and things to do. We are so grateful for our stay here!
Thanks to Ingrid, I was able to give my 81-year old stepmother the trip of a lifetime❤️. Her home is Breda is spacious and well-appointed (we particularly liked the instant boiling water tap!) and very near the border with Belgium, so we got two countries in one trip. With short train rides, we visited Bruges, Antwerp, Delft, Leiden, Amsterdam, The Hague, and my new favorite, Utrecht. It’s two bus stops to the train station and easy to get anywhere you want. And her sweet cat Moos is the best boy!
I had the most wonderful time at Lynsey’s home in Stockholm! Her home is lovely and so convenient to the city center, even as her neighborhood is quiet and off the tourist path (in a very good way). I found e-scootering to be my favorite method of getting into town but there are buses and even a tram that can get you there as well. There’s a grocery store and a popular snaps and sandwich cafe within walking distance, too. And I will always have a crush on their sweet cat Bruce ❤️.
Miranda is such a wonderful hostess! She checked on us when we were on our way, when we arrived, during our stay, and even after we left. When we arrived, she had wine and a cheese board waiting for us and instructions on how to do everything. She has a beautiful, clean, organized home and we watched bunnies hopping in the backyard every morning with our coffee. She even helped us track down my husband’s lost luggage! Cork is the perfect base for Killarney, Ring of Kerry, Dingle, Waterford, and our new favorite, Blarney. An absolutely perfect stay. Thank you, Miranda!

It may seem formal, but our home is very comfortable. That’s my hubby on the couch and my foot at bottom right.
Our living room is filled with travel souvenirs on the walls and in the cabinets. You’re welcome to watch tv here, with Netflix, Hulu, prime, Hbo max, apple+, and Disney+.
My working corner. If I’m not on the porch, I’m here.
This bathroom adjoins the living room and is known as our "Instagram bathroom"
My grandfather used to say "Come on in this kitchen!"
This hallway leads back to the kitchen.
I just really like my new refrigerator. I’ll leave information for grocery delivery.
You're welcome to cook in the kitchen, with the electric stove, KitchenAid mixer, and Ninja blender. Feel free to partake in the wine rack and cookbooks too!
Our guest bedroom has its own bathroom.
All four bedrooms have large beds and two have en suite bathrooms.
I’ll leave a list of restaurants that will deliver snacks and meals directly to the house.
Just a two minute walk and you'll arrive at a Central American restaurant that will treat you like regulars.
Inside the restaurant, tell owner Dawn that you are staying at our house and she will give you a hug!
Our outdoor cats help us do our work on the porch.
So many beautiful houses in Macon.
Macon is full of lovely buildings and lush vegetation.
Otis Redding (“Sitting on the Dock of the Bay”) lived here and has a museum here. You’ll probably see his family downtown at dinner!
Our house is at bottom left. The other corners are a live theatre, a science garden, and the most beautiful park south of Atlanta.
Our house at the Magic Hour.
My happy place. Watch the rain fall, the sun set, and the world pass by.
