Neighbourhood

The bywater is a historic neighborhood located along the mississsippi river downriver from the french quarter. It is about 10 minutes by car, 15 minutes by bike or 25 minutes walking to the quarter. It is a designated historic district, with a mixture of bars, restaurants, galleries and music venues. it has been described as "hip" but we find it a easy going mix of artists, families, young people and older folks who have lived in the neighborhood for decades. it is definitely funkier though than some of the statelier uptown neighborhoods. there is terrific park that starts about 5 blocks from the house and follows the river all the way to french quarter. it's a great place to picnic by the river or jog or bike.

Getting Around

we are about about 10 minutes by car, 15 minutes by bike or 25 minutes walking to the French quarter. There are city busses that run nearby. we are open to the idea of a car exchange. we also have bicycles you can borrow. Uber and Lyft are also in the city, along with taxis.
